Robshaw tackle Empty Robshaw tackle

Post by Dontheman Sun 26 Feb 2012, 8:38 am

It looked pretty bad on Warbs of all people. Not even a yellow. People were talking about a citing. Needs to be opened up like Ferris who IMO got away with murder.

If he's talking about the Welsh match, you're right Billy, but Ferris needs to be cited for repeatedly taking hold of Italian players heads, necks when clearing out of rucks. I counted three separate incidents.

I was amazed in all honesty Billy, why would he? He's a far better player than needing to do that.

If we are talking about the line out, where Warbs jumped in the line out and came down on Robshaws shoulder. I personaly thought it was an accident to be honest.

I thought that as Warbs jumped he acualy came across and Robshaw found him self under Warbs, result Warbs came down on Robshaws shoulder.

An accident nothing more.

I think Robshaw was the one who came across - I agree that the resulting danger for Warburton was an accident but it was reckless and should have been a yellow card. I doubt he'll get cited though (and hope he doesn't as he've obviously not a dirty player) - I'd be surprised if he does as the IRB only seem interested in tip tackles these days.

Yes, but he compounds that by then taking hold of Warburton's jersey and pulling him down, that's what made the difference.

The Robshaw Warburton thing wasn't any worse than North's tip tackle on Farrell.

I actually thought that Robshaw realised what was happening and tried to break his fall. No intent and attempted to minimise the fall.

No citing needed IMO

I think part of the problem was that the lifter at the back had thrown the player up rather than lifted & pushed, losing any substantial contact to control him. As such Warburton was veering to the side and backwards and was always going to come down hard. Robshaw being there compounded it.

Spot on Glas a du, he tackled Warburton in the air!

Norths tip tackle Yahoo

He knocked Farrell backwards and sat him on his backside, not his head!!!!!!!!

Actually it should have been a penalty to England.

19.10 (d) Lifting and supporting. Players may assist a team-mate in jumping for the ball by lifting and supporting that player providing that the lifting and/or supporting players do not support the jumping team-mate below the shorts from behind or below the thighs from the front.

The Welsh players were supporting Warburton illegally. Which is why he was so high - and why he fell so awkwardly.

To me it was all rather unfortunate. It could quite easily have been seen as a penalty but it would have been very harsh. Warburtons lifter released him, Robshaw didnt take him out. In fact Robshaw even appears to me to be trying to help Warburton down....

Agree with you Eirebilly. If you watch Robshaw he holds his ground, and Warburton topples on top of him after being lifted illegally. As Robshaw goes over he's clearly trying to break Warburton's fall.

As mentioned, should have been a penalty to England for illegal lifting.

Er ... yes, actually. Check the regulation, you are only allowed to lift from designated areas. If you check the footage, the Welsh lifters are holding him too low on the legs - this is illegal because it's dangerous as witnessed.

Should have been an England penalty.
