Tonks Signs for Edinburgh
Another Scots qualified player coming to Murrayfield, anyone care to fill us in on what he's like? Says his preffered position is full back, so looks like he's being brought in for cover for Paterson when/if he hangs up the boots.

Pretty happy with that. He a young, exciting back and not too small either which is a good thing for that backline.
Really interested to know what Northampton fans make of him?
I can see mossy retiring this season - his body is starting to give up the ghost.

He's a solid all rounder but I wouldn't expect much in terms of fireworks. He is a good footballer and because of that skill set Saints shoe horned him into centre and fly half in emergencies but he is a full back and a reliable one.

That's not a bad thing tbh - our current backline provides plenty fireworks but definitely wouldn't be described as reliable or consistent.
Reckon this is a sign that (good)Godman isn't being offered another contract??

Possibly. We do seem to have plenty of cover at 10 even in the international window, and Tonks appears to be adding temporary cover. It's been difficult to tell how Bradley rates GG though, so you never know, he might just cling on

Word is that ex internationals will not have thier contracts renewed. I wasn't given any names. Suppose that could be any of Godman, Webster, Traynor, McDonald and Paterson.

That wouldn't be a bad thing I suppose. MacDonald in particular could do with a move to get some game time and some form.

Looking forward to seeing what Tonks offers.
McDonald to Glasgow would be a good call from a Scots team perspective if Barcs and Beattie leave. McDonald would push Fusaro on nicely.
Feel for Webster and Godman after their injuries but sure they would benefit from a move.
So any bets on the next 'find' from south of the border?

Re: Tonks Signs for Edinburgh
I posted this on another thread
"he never really kicked on and the writing was on the wall when Pisi was signed before this season as the backup 15 (altghough he's proving to be a more than decent 13!). Shows how far Tonks has dropped from first team reckoning when Diggin, who hadn't played a competitive game at full back for over 5 years has replaced Foden during the 6N"
Although I'm a Saints fan I've only seen him a handful of times. General feeling on the Saints forum is that they wish him well but nobody is particularly upset to see him go.

I did wonder how edinburgh got him if he happened to be a front line player for northampton - seems like he's not.
He is only 22 though so will see how he developes - visser was 22 and hardly setting the AP alight when he moved here!

He certainly might kick on, he was seen as having a lot of potential when Dusty Hare first 'poached' him for us. As Sam says he's a solid player and has a very strong left boot if my memory serves me.
