If Wales And England Win.
First topic message reminder :
If Wales beat Italy and England beat France then the 6 Nations is pretty much WALES.
It would take a BIG point difference on the last weekend for England (assuming England were to beat Ireland and France to beat Wales)
So for a very rare occasion i want England to win

Re: If Wales And England Win.
To be honest with you I don't rate France but obviously I would never underestimate them.
Apart from one good game during the world cup France have been very erratic, Ireland could have and should have won last weekend they were the better team.
England should be encouraged by last weekends game France are there for the taking.

I am sure England will be encouraged by their own previous performance, their best yet, though still very very far from a finished article as much as they were by Ireland's magnificent effort. Ireland could have won, France could have also.
I see the French are saying all the right things this week and want to get things back on track.

Re: If Wales And England Win.
I did say it on another thread that no team can be taken for Granted in this years 6ns. All the games have been pretty close, a part from maybe Ireland v Italy last week end.
Yes i do agree that Wales are a good spot right now, played 3 won 3. But i dont think that even Wales should get complacent, If Italy do turn up they could just as well ruin Wales chance of Grand Slam than any one else.
England on the other hand going to France. Could be just the icing on the cake, England have won in Paris before, but the team that won in Paris is/was more experenced than the one that in playing at this moment.
So i personaly think that both teams should keep their feet well and truly on the ground right now and not get too far ahead of our selves.

It is just a thought and i dont want to burst any ones bubbles here.
But, If, If, Wales do lose the last 2 games, all those Welsh fans on here shouting Wales for the Grand Slam will look prety foolish dont you think?
Their is a chance that Wales may win 1 and lose 1, that would still give them the 6ns title if i am right.
But if they do lose the last 2 games, where will that leave Wales in the tournament?

Maj there is no problem with fans believing their team can go all the way.
But if they do lose the last 2 games, where will that leave Wales in the tournament?
It would mean they still got the triple crown

It seems to me with that answer that you was trying to be funny.
I am not for one minute doubting that Wales did win the TRIPLE CROWN.
Please note i was trying to ask a serious questions.
Would their position make any difference to their IRB rankins?

If Wales And England Win.
I found this under a slab:
For one weekend only:
Whatever the margin of victory for either side, England will overtake Wales in the wrankings.

Did you not see 2003 then? Believe it or not Ireland were playing for the slam too. Then MJ forced that bird into the mud and England won 42-6. Ah, those were the daysMorgannwg wrote:biltongbek wrote:It will be good to see the Welsh support the english for the weekend.
Personally, I wanted a slam decider (two undefeated teams playing for the title on the final weekend). Don't believe I have ever seen one. Yet.

Re: If Wales And England Win.
I knew Ireland had just emerged as a 6 Nations force back then, but had no idea that game was a slam decider. Back then it was a two nation tournament as other teams were absolutely awful, especially Wales. Needless to say, I don't think I watched the Ire/Eng slam decider.
Yeah. But what I had meant is that I would have preferred if France could also get the Slam if they went and beat a previoulsy unbeaten Wales in the final game. Would have been great. Impossible now though due to their draw with Ireland. We serisouly need a win over France. 2008!

That's France in a nutshell Cymro and exactly why they can't be written off. Everyone knows it but like Forrest Gumps chocolates you never know what you're gonna get. Look at their world cup- lose to Tonga and nearly rip the final in less than 3 weeks.
Thats what makes French Rugby fascinating.
The home factor is a biggy but for me the unknown is their biggest threat to England is they just won't have a clue what to expect whereas England we all know will play a low risk, tight, possession, territory type game which might work if they restrict France.
Interesting match this one...

i think we know exactly what to expect with france as england allways do- allways good games and the best team wins out.. I know plenty of fans believe france to be this magical side that can play immense rugby or bad rugby- yes there are inconsitant but not unbeatable even at there best.
basically allways expect them to play there best and there is no problems whatsoever- you may win, you may lose- thats life

yep thats the attitude i dont get.
its like applying history to france and not to other teams- on this thread plenty have been saying- its not about the past its all about the 15 at present!! but when people talk about france they allways go back to dreaming about a game v NZ.
its quite simple- some teams are better suited against other teams. France play well v NZ, its the style v the style. just like ireland play well v the english, just like england play well v aus, etc etc

apart from a partially abject performance at Twickenham Wales have been clicking very well scoring good tries making good breaks and dominating in the tight forward exchanges.mystiroakey wrote:Maybe they wont click in either.Or maybe you should think about your team clicking instead!

i know you have . you have been playing very well, and dont worry you also played well in twickers- tough place for you to go, never gonna be the most amazing performace by both teams- history and all that.
I knew you would beat us/england, you were playing to well- france on the other hand- not convinced in the slightest!- they are favs yes, but its no certainty at all.

In general I agree but
typically of France we gave them a beating only a few weeks earlier but then struggled to get to the finish line.
Against other countries we get fewer surprises.
Ireland come at as with passion and then fall off towards the end - almost never have I seen anything different.
Scotland compete for about 40 minutes and then get beaten.
SA beat us up for 80 minutes and sometimes we win and sometimes they win but its fairly predictable that its going to be a tough match.
France - often we walk them but sometimes they just turn it on.

Re: If Wales And England Win.
The reality is Wales should have no problem to dispense of Italy, in fact looking at the form book it will be classed as a major upset for the books if they lose.
England vs France is a little bit of a conundrum. Neither team has really convinced yet, and apart the the loss to Wales England has kept on winning, and France pretty much the same in winning their matches.
I reckon this is a very difficult one to call.

If Italy beat Wales then it will be a major upset but i dont think that Wales will beat Italy with the same margine that Ireland beat Italy. Not because i think Ireland are better than Wales but because i think that Italy had a horrible off day against Ireland.
I expected France to beat England, although it will be very close but i would not be for one second suprised should England turn France over. For me, the most important periods for England will be the first 20mins in each half, if they can live with France in those periods then i can see a win. It would not be a great shock if England do win either i feel.

I think they will billy, or go fairly close. As with the wcup wales put lesser teams away with ease because of their willingness to open up. With a bit less resistance wales might find the gaps come more easily.. Especially at MS.
Time will tell though. Could be wrong i know.

I just cant see it Taylor, i really cant. Wales, for all their talent, have not looked as convincing in attack as i had expected. They really havent blown any side away. Most of Irelands points against Italy were as a direct result of Italy playing poorly, i just dont see them playing as poorly again.

I have a feeling Ireland have too much there for them to be honest. It would be good to see Scotland win if only to get them closer to the top 8. Teams will be aware of the seedings for the WC and it is important to get an established Top 8 position.

I am not so sure that Ireland will have too much Woodstock, Ireland have lost their captain, form 9 and SOB. I imagine it being very close but going on both Scotland and Irelands other matches, this could be a very exciting match for the neutral

I have to drag myself out of bed at 0330 to watch Wales play so I will be 'My Skying' the Ire v Sco game and watch it after a long sleep sometime on Sunday. I expect it to be the game of the weekend though.
As for the thread I expect Wales to run rampant over Italy, Fiji style rather than Namibia style. France will win by a few tries 12+ in the end.
Oh! and a very sad wife

Welshman is a bigger man than I. If he starts shouting for England I hope he watches the match in the safety of his own home, as there are not many who would appreciate his strategic reasoning after a gutsfull. From a strategic perspective he is of course absolutely correct. I wish him luck and safe passage through his Sunday afternoon

We have a world cup which isn't 7s! We had the deaf world cup!
Being serious though, it will be interesting to see if we hear the good old hits of 'undervalued tournament' or 'the other teams were rebuilding post RWC' if Wales win the 6Ns, or if we hear the same things if England win it (which is possible).
But it has been a devalued tournament and England are rebuilding! Weakest 6 Nations since, I don't know, 2008 probably
Here we go again. I am a great one for getting in early, but there are two games left. This is a tournament that provided 2 WC Semi-fianalists and a team that lost by a point in the final. Grow a pair and take your licks like a man/woman

There is plenty of it everywhere else.
Wales beat an Engkand team in transition, wakes had wins by dodgy penalties, lucky lucky lucky etc etc etc
Other times over the past few years I might have agreed but this welsh squad is a fantastic team.

As I pointed out today (https://www.606v2.com/t25519-no-mercy), unless we put Italy to the sword, England win and Wales win and it could be down to a few points come the last week.
Dont count our chickens yet...

Possibly. Italy have seven changes for this so could be saving their best for Scotland next week, potentially opening up a hole for wales to exploit. This might just be the match wales peak for their supporters for.

Re: If Wales And England Win.
I have no doubt in my mind that Italy will be targeting Scotland as their biggest chance of a victory Taylor.
That said, they werent that bad away in Paris, made a few mistakes and France were clinical.
They really came close to beating England at home and on another day may just have done that.
Were seriously poor against Ireland and to be honest the scoreline flattered Ireland.
I just think that Italy wont be as bad as they were agains Ireland, Wales will still win but i cant see them running up a huge score.

Yeah my thinking is based more on Wales lifting their rate considerably. They'll spend the first half and maybe the start of the second securing the win and if theyre the team I believe they are will spend the last 15-20 going away.
Either way, will make fun viewing- as will all 3 matches. With sxv Ive about 5 matches to get through tonight...as well as feed the family....
