If you could play in any era which would it be?
every era has its great players and brilliant teams from Wavell Wakefields England of the 20s to John Dawes Wales of the 70s. Would you choose to play alongside some of rugbys greatest players or would rather face todays behemouths? There is something romantic about playing for the pride, joy and glory of the game but on the other hand there is something to be said about being paid. Would you play at the beginning of professionalism when it was a bright new world or would you want to play now when the game is at its height?
For me I would love to have played when rugby itself was taking off and the slightest innovation (such as specialised positions) could make a huge difference but then I would also love to have played in the great Scotland team of the 20s. I am a rugby history enthusiast though and I expext that most of you would prefer to play in more recent times.
Tell me who you would play for and when. I'm interested

For me exactly where I played. In Auckland club rugby through the 1980's. Being in the same age group, school and club scene as Kirwan, Fox, Jones and many more I got to watch, play with and against players and teams in what I still believe is the greatest provincial era in rugby ever.
When I think back I'd probably have got further if I'd played somewhere else such was the ridiculous strength of rugby in Auckland then but in reality wouldnt trade the experience for anything.

yeah that is pretty appealing atually. You're a lucky man to have played among that lot. The best i managed was playing against Steve Thompson and Ben Cohen at school

The 1980's to early '90's
If you cheated then, you got punished but didn't complain.
If you didn't cheat - you lost.
At least everyone was singing from the same hymn sheet back then.
Ahhh, the "Bad Old Days".

This era. The training, technology, tactics, and medical treatment are superior and obviously we have TMO.

I like the modern game, but I loathe what the professional era is doing to the game.
Guess you can't have it both ways.
