American Idol
Did anyone see it this week?
Two of the contestants admitted to being huge wrestling fans (one of them started a Warrior promo tribute).
Anyway, Hogan turned up on the show during the results and smashed Ryan Seacrest who oversold more than the Cabbage Patch kids in the 80s.
Quite a fun segment - I wonder if TNA will mention it on the next Impact?

Re: American Idol
Haven't seen it, but I would guess that they have a mutual agreement with American Idol to mention each other in their shows.
AI has a big following in America, not a bad place to get your most recognisable figure some airtime!

Re: American Idol
Brooke Hogan to win American Idol and Seacrest to replace Jeff Hardy in Immortal.
Guest- Guest
Re: American Idol
Bizarrely enough, Jennifer Hudson was on last night as well (David Otungas partner).
I wonder if the WWE will try and mention it too!
As for the show, I think it is one of (if not THE) highest rates show in AMerica.
If you get a chance, watch the segment of the housemates wrestling - I thought they did a good job. Better than some of the Nexus/ Corre matches!
Re: American Idol
I saw that, they didn't plug TNA but 1 of they guys did a Miz parody and they mentioned "a SmackDown" aswell, i heaerd Hogan refused to job to Seacrest so he oversold the punch

A couple of weeks ago, Hulk Hogan was on American Idol. He came out because contestant James Durbin is a wrestling fan. Now, I knew about this because my wife watches Idol (and Durbin is her favorite contestant this year) and told me. If you're in the cognizant dissonant class that has everything Idol blocked out, you'd never know that Hogan was on Idol. At all. Even if you were a TNA fan. Yes, TNA never promoted the fact that their best-known personality was on Idol. Do you see something wrong with that? Even worse, Hogan never once mentioned the fact that he was on Impact or even worked for TNA.
That was a golden opportunity for him to get new eyes on the program on one of the most widely-viewed programs in America, and there was NOTHING. No hype, no promotion, no nothing. You had better believe that if Hogan still worked for WWE at the time, that clip would have been the main event of Superstars. Search your feelings. You know this to be true. Hell, the WWE took advantage of the spot by sending Durbin a Spinner Belt the next week. Talk about something that could have been a boon for TNA turning into something with egg on their faces.
TNA really doesn't promote anything except their social media outreach. While it's good to have a presence on social media, that's not all there is. TV still reaches a Poopie more people, and yet, they refuse to really extend the brand past what they show every two hours on Spike TV. Of course, from a company that can't even make a star of their own without that person being elevated previously in WWE/ECW/WCW, is it that surprising? I think not.
This may not be anything new, but it's definitely symptomatic of what ails TNA. Their focus is too shooty, too insider, too much for their own entertainment and for people who'll defend them no matter what. They don't try to expand the market, and that's why they don't expand ratings. They try to ape the WWE in all categories where they shouldn't be copying them, and yet in the one place they should be taking cues from WWE, they refuse to do it. Why?
Either way, TNA is never going to be that company that competes with WWE if they keep shunning publicity like that. Eric Bischoff can talk about being a successful TV producer, but the proof to the contrary is in every missed opportunity to get TNA that exposure.
But that's nothing new. And it's sad.
