Best British fight.
Following on from the best British fighters article, what do you think has been the best boxing match between two Brits?

Naturally, the likes of Benn-Eubank I, Eubank-Watson II etc will be put forward by almost everyone. And they are of course essential viewing. Outside of that, I'd offer up Clinton McKenzie versis Colin Powers (the third one), which was an absolute barnstormer, as were the two bouts between John Conteh and Chris Finnegan - particularly the first one, which was a really high-quality bout with Conteh at his very best.
In more recent times, Mitchell-Murray and Haye-Thompson, for differing reasons, were as good as anything you could really hope to see in an all-British fight.

Re: Best British fight.
Caldwell vs Gilroy back in the 1960's for the British Bantamweight title, was supposed to have been an epic. Never seen footage, but I've spoken to eye witnesses who said it was a cracker. Both were Olympic Medallists, at the 1956 games, and the winner was supposed to fight the great Eder Jofre for the World title. Gilroy stopped Caldwell late after a real back and forth battle between great friends.

Re: Best British fight.
Was surprised it took until the 15th post for someone to mention the Haye/Harrison battle. I love the way that Harrison was tactically 'luring him in'. He was just about to take him to deep waters and drown him, but Haye's power told in the end.
That single jab of Harrison's in round two was as crisp a jab as you're likely to see landed.
A classic war.

Controversial stoppage too, let's not forget. So many talking points.

Hagler-Hearns: 3 Rounds
Haye-Harrison: 3 Rounds
Both fights lasted 3 rounds. Both boxers in both fights have names starting with the letter 'H'. Both were classic battles. So many parallels.

Apparently both of there fights were great fights. Unfortunately there is only about 3 minutes of footage from both fights. It does make a case for the highest quality of fighters in an all British fight though.
Buchanan vs Watt was a great fight. Definitely the best all Scottish fight of all time.

I've only seen the footage from the second fight, I thought I'd throw it in as a provocative alternative more than anything else.
