Would you cheer on Italy to get rid of AR?
Wanting your team to lose....
Here is a question for our Scottish posters.
It has been widely reported that this weekends game could be Andy Robinson's last game in charge should they lose to Italy.
My question is this. Bearing in mind that Scotland have nothing to play for but pride (and not taking the wooden spoon I suppose but so what!), would you rather see your team lost, so that they can move on with a new coach.
Is it ever acceptable to wish for your team to lose, if it means that there can be changes for the better.
Are you a true fan if this is the case?
Let's hear your thoughts....

Re: Wanting your team to lose....
I'll be wanting Scotland to win as usual, I don't think the result will make too much difference to whether or not Robinson goes. Whether we win or not, he should go but won't. I have a feeling the SRU won't get rid of him so soon after allowing him to choose new assistants. I think we'd have to lose to Fiji, Samoa and Tonga and not come close to Aus, NZ and SA and then he might go after that.

Re: Wanting your team to lose....
I would never cheer against my team. In the darkest corner of my mind and in rage I have said I hope they lose, but it's a shame for the players to be in that mindset.
Even Parks when I felt he had no right to be within 10'000 leagues of the Scottish 10 slot I still could never in my heart find it in me to boo him. He may be rubbish but he always tries his best.
I want rid of AR and to be honest even if we beat Italy I reckon his fate is sealed. 3 out of 15 in the 6N is not good enough. Even Hadden did better than that.

It's been a tough enough 6 nations, so as much as you say 'who cares' to the wooden spoon, I don't think I could take the anguish.

Re: Wanting your team to lose....
It's not acceptable to want players who give their all for the shirt they wear (players you want to shine in future games) to lose a game.
What is acceptable is feeling miserable, feeling you need a new coach, seeing that there might be some sun behind the clouds if your side did lose. Not to wish it, but to see the possible knock on benefits if it happened.
In other words, it's acceptable to look on the bright side of a bad finish.

This 6N has been weird for me. I adopdted what could only be described as gallows humour the second Dan Parks was selected to play England. Had we picked Laidlaw or Weir from the onset the huge pang of disapointment would have fully hit home.
This year with some of AR's baffling selections losing has been inevitabe just about every match. Hence not as disapointing.

It has become like a BlackAdder plot, instead of the Cunning Plan coming from Blackadder, we are left with Andy Robinson's cabbage growing plots that are not quite so cunning
Never want us to lose - and I hope we put a performance on agaisnt Italy
however would prefer to scrape a win if it meant getting rif of AR and his 'French like' mad selections

Get rid of this clown now. Do not wait until Saturday. To add insult to injury this colossal bell end has got his little poodle pal Townsend the Glasgow job. He is not fit to be the car park attendant on the back pitches. A very dark time for Scottish rugby and as I posted on the club site the worst weekend I have ever had as a rugby man.
SRU bin this erse now as he does not have the personal pride to resign himself - a coward too !

Re: Wanting your team to lose....
I have never rooted for my teams to lose, ever. We all want to see players, coaches, and managers depart from time to time. But root to lose? Never.
I want to see Scotland win and do well. Seems Scotland are in every match, and a little good fortune could have possibly changed some results. They seem so close, and just need a spark or bounce to break through.

Funny thing is, its not just the Scottish fans that are desperate to see a win for them. I am Irish and i seriously want to see them get a result that their endevours have been suggesting.
I do feel that its too late for AR but i doubt very much that he will get the sack to be honest.

Re: Wanting your team to lose....
If you compare gatland to Robinson they're very similar
The main one is maddening selections - but you can't blame sloppy ball handling on the coach - where I think Scotland have let themselves down.
Get a good defense coach in and I think things will turn around
The endeavour on the pitch seems to be 100% so I don't thInk he's lost the dressing room.
One charge down in the first game was unlucky, but seems to have set the tone for Scotland's championship.
Is it me or does Scotland seem to get more than its fair share of nasty injuries?

It wasn't the charge down that set the tone - it was Robinsons mistake in Selecting Parks. Everyboody including the players must have know that was a mistake

Re: Wanting your team to lose....
WHY would any one want their team to lose?
Even if you dont like your coach (Scotland-Andy Robinson) surely you would want your team to win at all times.
I do not believe that any one would want their team to lose at any time.

You have to wonder just how important that first up game of the six nations really is important to the team psychology.
If Scotland had beaten England would they have had better results?
They are not a bad side at all

With the resources that Andy has had I don't think his done a bad job at all, who would have done better?

BATH_BTGOG, his resources have been what they are, but his selections from those resources have not been great - playing players out of position, terrible bench picks, ignoring form (whilst saying it is key), favouritism, wrong players for game plan, etc. Trust me, it hasn't been a great ride!

If it were open I don't think it would be out of the realms os impossibility for Bradley to apply.
Perhaps freeing the Edinburgh job up for Chalmers to cut his teeth at pro level after a succesful stint at Melrose.
Natural progression instead of Toonie's rise to power out west.

Bring back Matt Williams!
No, as I understand it Scotland have to new coaches coming in? Scott Johnson and some other guy are joining the panel. For Robinson this means he can point to that and say that will make a difference, for the SRU if they want to change the coaching structure they have to buy Robinson and the new coaches out of their contracts...
I can't see any change whatsoever to the coaching set-up.

I won't be cheering Scotland I'm afraid, purely because Castro is a Tiger and he's playing for Italy.
Scotland are playing well but not quite getting the results this season. That is harsh and rather unlucky but there is undoubted progress being made.

I'm not disappointed Scotland lost, but even if they sneaked a win in the dying minutes, it wouldn't have covered up the reality behind this six nations.
On balance I'm not sure it mattered in this case - but in general, I would never want my team to lose.

They certainly can't enjoy being coached by him. I think I could have put in a better shift than some of them across the park, and I'm a 12st scrawny wing/centre.
