Current World XI?
This is a tough one, with many talking about the demise of the premierleague, I was wondering who would make the current world XI based on current and recent form.
Mine would be as follows (let's use 4-3-3 for arguements sake):
GK Casillas
RB Ramos
CB Piqué
CB Kompany
LB Lahm (tough one to call, I feel you cant justify a right back playing in a left back position)
CM Sneijder
CM Iniesta
CM Xavi
LWF Messi
RWF Ronaldo
STK Van Persie
Bench:
Valdes
Alves
Vidic
Xavi Alonso or Cesc Fabregas
David Villa (if fit) or Wayne Rooney

Re: Current World XI?
It's pretty much a dream team there but I presume with the stipulation of 'current' form that you're referring to how the players have performed this season.
Based on that then Sneijder, Villa and Vidic have to be removed.

Re: Current World XI?
like hero says on what is current but i like your team. the only changes i would make are:
casillas for hart
pique for vidic (defence get such a easy time in that team that still dont think pique has proven himself as vidic has. even maschereno and busquets look easy playing at cb in that team). vidic may have been out injured this season but doesnt mean he's changed to a bad player. he was still solid as a rock when fit
LB is a tough one. used to always be evra for me, but he's been poor for a couple of seasons. i'll still stick with cole though playing at his natural postion over lahm
and finally i would have cesc/ozil/silva over sneidjer. this season dont think sneidjer has been up to much. silva has been city's best player with kompany and hart. cesc a revalation in his first season and ozil is a key cog in what looks like a title winning team

Re: Current World XI?
I certainly wouldn't have Messi. Can't see what all the fuss is about with him. Apart from being absolutely brilliant, with amazing ball control, lightningly quick, wonderfully balanced, refreshingly modest and possessed of a remarkable scoring rate, he's ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH.

Re: Current World XI?
in five years i'll go with:
gk:hart
lb: i havnt a clue, no real lb standing out i'll go gibbs
cb: smalling (been much more impressed with smalling as a cb than jones)
cb: pique
rb: jones (much better coming forward, richards could be another but soon as he loses half a yard in pace he wont be half as good)
cm: iniesta
cm: cesc
cm: ozil
lwf: messi
cf: ronaldo
rwf: neymar
there not too much different in my team as i think the likes of ronaldo and messi are still young enough to be still top of the game around then. englands defence looking good according to this!!! lthough we have always produced decent defenders and probably showing more of my english knowledge.

Re: Current World XI?
I agree Snjeider shouldn't be in there, he's had a dreadful season thus far for Inter. I'd go for Hart in goals definately.
GK. Hart
RB. Alves-No better RB in world football i'm afraid, has Ronaldo in his pocket everytime they play
CB. Pique
CB. Kompany
LB. Lahm-He is acutally a left back but only just started playing RB for Munich this season
CM. Xavi
LCM. Ozil
RCM. Iniesta
LF. Ronaldo
RF. RVP
ST. Messi

I agree re Schneider and Hart.
Still have bought into this Pique is a great malarky, one of the best protected defenders into the game and is rarely tested therefore I'd prefer a proven world class defender - Vidic.
Would have a Barca midfield of Xavi, Iniesta and Fab with the same front three as you.
By God that looks an amazing team - why don't Man Citeh just spank £500m or so and get it??!! Still pocket change for them!

That'll do nicely. Too good Man City anyway.

Current:
Iker Casillas
Daniel Alves
Gerard Pique
Vincent Kompany
Ashley Cole
Yaya Toure
Xavi
David Silva
Lionel Messi
Robin Van Persie
Cristiano Ronaldo.
Can't really say a whole team for five years time but I will say that Neymar will be up there with Messi as the best player in the world.
