A Busy And Fun Night On 606v2
The top three made it once again to the quarters of a Masters event. How much interest did each of their quarter finals generate here on 606v2? It may not be statistically significant but as a bit of fun I thought I would measure this by counting the number of comments during each quarter final.
Djokovic 9
Federer 29
Nadal 157
I counted all the comments on the match thread "ATP MASTERS 1000 Indian Wells..." during each match even if some were off topic. I have to say that during the Djokovic match interest was diverted to how "sexy" or not members of the audience were. Even during the Federer match many of the comments were about the pro's and cons of various TV packages. But most of those comments during the Nadal match were on the match itself. In fact many of those commenting appeared to be emotionally involved in the match.
Of course the Nadal match was longer and therefore this could explain a few extra comments but much of the match took place in the early hours of the morning. Many here on 606v2 had a late night in order to enjoy this match. Both the Djokoviv and Federer matches took place at the more "watchable" time of 8pm. 157 comments is I would guess a lot for 606v2. If Y I Man or Gav are around maybe they could provide some information on the average daily comments here on the tennis section to make a comparison?
Love him or hate him does this prove that Nadal provides the most entertainement here on 606v2?

Well Federer wasn't even on the telly, so that must have affected things.
And you have to factor in that 105 of the Nadal posts were made by Amrit (although there were only 2 distinct points made).

What happened? Is Murray losing some space in 606v2??

A bit of fun this post, but not likely to be all that statistically significant.

Murray lost in the 1st round. He wasn't in the quarter finals.

What junk thread. No substance and nothing whOlesome in it. Pure hateful tripe from someone who thrives on gossip and is unable to socialise even in this virtual manner .
Why don't you write something sweet funny witty or informative for once?

Re: A Busy And Fun Night On 606v2
Well, hawkeye, there are two hardcore Novak fans that regularly post on Djokovic here, about the same number of Nadal fans who regularly post. And generally when Novak is playing, generally I don't comment at all on the match thread.
But there is no question that Novak is still way less popular among general and tennis public than Roger and then Rafa. But that has already started to change and his popularity is growing. YOu may or may not believe this but few people in the states outside tennis fans had any idea who Roger Federer was until he had about 5 or 6 slams. Tennis is not that big of a sport here in American and until Fed beat Agassi in the 05 final it was basically tennis fans who knew him. The sports and general public had little or not interest. Now Roger is treated like a king and everyone knows him. But back then he didn't have a fan club of celebrities and would never appear in major non-tennis commercials.
As for Nadal, even I find myseld being sucked into talking about him because frankly, while I don't find him to be my favorite player it rubs me the wrong way when he is attacked with really ludicrous non-supportable arguments. If any of the top guys was attacked that way I would defend them. Frankly, I often try to avoid threads on Nadal by certain posters because I know what it is going to be about.

My defending of nadal is often a reaction to other people attacking him, normally I don't like to argue much.
Like on MTL there weren't that many Nadal hatahs so therefore I didn't defend Nadal that much. In fact even after a year of posting most posters probably thought I was neutral. Certainly I wasn't recognised as some sort of fanatic or anything, but I suppose some people were beginning to realise I was a nadal fan after a year or so. I mean you can ask Laverfan, I don't think she knew I was a nadal fan until I joined 606v2 and she's known me for years.

Great post as usual. This is the reason 606v2 can be good. There are a few posters who are able to discuss things rationally without getting upset, angry or (and this is only the very few) nasty or without expecting everyone to agree with them.. Sometimes they are able to change opinions.
