Magomed Abdusalamov
Was the Heavyweight on the undercard of the MAcklin/Martinez fight, gotta be completely honest although he has 14 wins and 14 KOs and none seeing the end of 4 I was not really impressed. Looks game though and ready to be in a scrap, big and powerful with little technique, but to me seemed little more than to be a big lump that hits hard.
But as Jim Watt said in commentary I suppose, with the HW division as it is, in reference to getting a title shot, he's got about as much chance as everybody else.
Oh yeah and his names a bit of a mouthful.
Thoughts?

My first thought was that he did not throw one jab all fight, not one!! Did look a beast, just no fundamentals..

Ref was awful in this fight, should have stopped the fight after the knockdown.

Has a great amateur pedigree and is MEANT to be the real deal.
However - I've been more impressed by Seth Mitchell in terms of skillset - and Mitchell's a rookie.

Re: Magomed Abdusalamov
Perhaps it was just a bit of a dodgy performance but there wasn't much method in his work, it just looked as though he was just trying to get him out of there as fast as possible without thinking about anything that he was doing. Will wait to judge later on after a couple of more outings, but he looked rather straight forward without anything to his game apart from being a big strong guy.

Wasn't impressed with they guy all that much. Just another average big lump who was about as mobile as a wardrobe.

Re: Magomed Abdusalamov
Like you SRR I was not overly impressed, on the plus side he did appear to have some power, although that did not look Shaversesque but as I think with so many heavies nowadays the fact they are considered prospects says more about the era than the relative merits of them as fighters, he displayed minimal mobility, no jab to speak of and his physical shape only looked good in relation to the tug boats that appear to populate the heavyweight division currently. However if Tyson Fury is a prospect than this guy is because he is certainly no worse than Fury.

He looked rubbish! He seemed to have decent power and that's about it!
I saw him fight a while back on another undercard (can't remember what fight). He fought exactly the same, i.e. very raw and little technique and the commentators were making no fuss and rightfully so, and on Sunday they were talking about him challenging for major titles

I look forward to seeing his name flung around by certain posters along with Mitchell and Wilder when discussing who's next for the Klitschko's.

He made two ton Tony look flexible, and he certainly can't whack like him either.
Don't like to call any fighter rubbish, but his skills looked minimal I'm afraid, I have no idea how the HW scene is going to look when the two brothers retire, I may just have to visit the attic and dust the old loin cloth off at this rate.

I've cut from heavyweight down to light heavy. I may go back up when the K-Bros retire and take my chances.
