Magomed Abdusalamov in hospital
Have heard he has been put in medically induced coma after small blood clot found on his brain after war with Mike Perez, hope the big man makes a full recovery.

For real? Watched that fight, pretty brutal. Had a big puffy cheek, looked battered. Hope he recovers. Apparently Klitschko might be next for Perez

Terrible news. Hope he makes a full recovery. Fight was an absolute war and both men took some seriously heavy blows. Tragic really.hogey wrote:Have heard he has been put in self induced coma after small blood clot found on his brain after war with Mike Perez, hope the big man makes a full recovery.

Yeah self induced isn't the right term.

Re: Magomed Abdusalamov in hospital
Boxing fans, like cricket fans, have a general psychotic streak that makes me wonder if the world wouldn't be better without us. In cricket, a fast bowler will steam in with a 165g grenade in his hand, nearly decapitate a batsman, and then... as the crowd ooohs and aaahs while the batsman is taken for CAT scans, they will demand the bowler do the same to the next bugger.
In a similar vein, fight fans want to see an all-out war, and when that finally happens, we look on in shocked when the vanquished victim is in a coma, or dead, but almost immediately afterward, we look forward to the next exciting war.

Boxing will be banned in the future and seen of as anamalistic.kingraf wrote:Boxing fans, like cricket fans, have a general psychotic streak that makes me wonder if the world wouldn't be better without us. The year is 2019. Boxing is banned and its fans are lost. ONETWO was last seen somewhere in indonesia, poorly disguised as a 14 year old girl. Rowley sits in a library regailing youngsters with yarns of when he were a lad, and fights that encouraged blunt force trauma were broadcast to the masses. Several MMA champions have won Nobel piece prizes for popularising a sport that is now seen as the numero uno sport of gentlemen, replacing polo.
I waste my time chasing awful men around abandoned amusement parks, pelting them, and actually killing them with dismembered chunks of cadaver flesh. It is a bleak future.
There is a lone statue where Madison Square Garden once reigned supreme, of Champagne Socialist. It is the place where he yelled, smugly "TOLD YA SO!" through a loud speaker and was promptly torn apart by a mob.
Mohammed Ali is held in a similar regard to Hitler.
LRR doesn't know what to do anymore.

Heavyweight Magomed Abdusalamov (18-1, 18KOs) now is in stable condition in the intensive care unit of St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, Team Abdusalamov told BoxingScene.com on Sunday. However, Abdusalamov still is in a medically induced coma.
Abdusalamov was hospitalized early Sunday morning in New York and placed in a medically induced coma after suffering a small blood clot on his his brain, BoxingScene.com's Rick Reeno reported earlier this morning.
Abdusalamov suffered the blood clot after the HBO-televised brawl with Mike Perez, which Abdusalamov lost by decision. He also sustained a broken hand and broken nose. He was placed in the medically induced coma to reduce the possibility of any serious complications stemming from the blood clot.
Sounds like things are looking better.
I didn't watch the fight but I believe it was very close and Abdusalamov was in it until the end came. Hopefully he pulls through ok.

JBW - that genuinely made me chuckle. Can actually see boxing slowly being outlawed, if I'm honest. When I started grade school, there were school tournaments everywhere (that's how I got know and love boxing), but Y2k parents are so worried about things like "brain damage", or "Death" or "possible internal bleeding", that in South Africa at least, boxing almost no longer exists until you're of age where no one can be sued for you getting your head bashed in. Fights are no longer on terrestrial tv. Fights don't even get a 30 second spot in the news anymore.

Re: Magomed Abdusalamov in hospital
The amount of power shots he absorbed from Perez was frightening sometimes people are too tough for their own good. Mind you Perez took plenty of big shots back as well, thank goodness he seems to have come through unscathed. I expect that is likely to be the end of Mago's career, which is a shame as he clearly could be a force in the division but of course his health must come first.

Buy a scooter and you'll have A/ More fun and B/ More chance of catching them which in turn leads to more fun. Surely we shouldn't have to spell this out to you...unless it's copperplate script using the looped entrails of the recently dead!

This was on Przemek Garczarczyk's Twitter.
B.Grinberg, Mago manager: His life in not in danger anymore; it was close. They want to wake him up from induced coma on Thursday
More from Grinberg about Magomedov health: He's alive because of great doctors from New York's Roosevelt Hospital and his strength.
