Celtic and Rangers
Scottish story going about is that Celtic and Rangers will be allowed into the English Leagues at Div 1 level.
What do you think of that and how do you think they will do?

I think Celtic will go, get to the Championship and struggle to get in the PL/stay there. They're a top championship side/bottom PL side at best (just now).
I think Rangers will be wound up by then.

Re: Celtic and Rangers
There is only one team that play on green and White here in league one. The mighty glovers! Gary Johnsons green and White army at Yeovil Town!
"Your going home in a Yeovil ambulance!"
Forza the people of Monzas adopted English team!

It's true, the league table does not lie. Had Gary Johnson not come back we would have been getting ready for life in league 2.
Now, Yeovil can start planning how to pop your 'cherries!'

Re: Celtic and Rangers
They would with there current squad but once they are in English football and are getting English football money there is no reason why they wouldn't be able to attract better players and challenge for European football.TSC wrote:I think Celtic will go, get to the Championship and struggle to get in the PL/stay there. That's what I mean. 90% of their squad, compared to other English teams, are dross. Once the money comes in, they could build a reasonable team.
It won't happen though. For how many years have they been banging on about it? And what have they done about it? They're all hot air.

Re: Celtic and Rangers
If I were English I would never want either team in the EPL.
Look how the Scottish FA treated Team GB FC.
Look at how they crave their independence from Britain.
BUT look at how the biggest teams in Scotland desperately want the English TV money.
Disgraceful.

Re: Celtic and Rangers
That was long before the EPL. Plus they started rightly in the bottom. Not randomly in League 1 or the championship.

Re: Celtic and Rangers
The main point that for me would need addressing is the risk of a return to hooliganism.
The hatred between the old firm is well documented, add into that mix the deep seated resentment of some towards the English and trips to places like Millwall, Leeds etc where their hardcore element will be looking to show who is alpha male and it's a recipe for disaster.

Re: Celtic and Rangers
They said today that there are six Welsh teams in the English league system.
That is a bit odd.
Why don't the Welsh get their own league.

History with Alessandro!
Bonjourno!
The Welsh teams were allowed to join the English Football League because there was no professional Welsh league at the time. When the Welsh FA finally set one up some of the trams returned back to Wales and the rest remained on the English league.
This made the Welsh FA angry and for a while those Welsh teams that remained in the English league were banned from playing in their home games in Wales. Years passed and eventually they are allowed to okay at home again.
Rangers and Celtic have their own league working Scotland so I can safely say that there never will be any invite of them joining the EPL having sucked the life and competition from the SPL.
They will have to come up with ways to rejuvenate their league and make it more appealing.

Re: Celtic and Rangers
Looks like the majority is finally going to outnumber the minority in Scotland.
At last it looks like the OF is going to be put back in it's cage and the football will be played on a level playing pitch.

Re: Celtic and Rangers
It would absolutely destroy the SPL if the two biggest teams in the competition were allowed to move to the EPL, the tv revenue aswell as gate receipts would surely mean most clubs would be seriously under threat?
