Sam Warburton hopeful for Wales Tests in June
Six Nations: Sam Warburton more hopeful for Wales Tests in June
Captain Sam Warburton is more confident he will be able to lead Wales into June's three-Test tour to Australia.
Warburton was forced off with a shoulder injury at half-time in Wales' 16-9 Grand Slam win against France.
He is due to have a second scan on the right shoulder this week.
"The medical people think it might just be a nerve problem, but we will know more in the next couple of days," Warburton told the Daily Telegraph.
And Warburton's father Jez told BBC Radio Wales there was more optimism on the injury.
"The original fear was that he would be out for three or four months with what was thought to be muscle damage, but apparently it's nerve damage which isn't so bad.
"He's had one scan which has confirmed he doesn't need an operation so that's good news.

It would be great to go to Aussie with a complete package, it will be the end of a long season and starting a test after a few weeks off. Aussie lads will be in the middle of the Super XV and well up for it.
Wales are the best equipped to win a game if not the series. Ireland have an immense task to get close to NZ whilst the boys next door should get a 3-0 whipping to get their feet firmly back on the ground.

He needs a break, apparently his brother Ben Warburton had to quit rugby because he was always getting injured, and it seems Sam is pretty fallible to getting injured as well.
Ben is a physio with Newport Gwent Dragons by the way.

We all love Sam, but he is going to be in danger of being known as Sick note Sam, with the amount of injuries he is having.

Re: Sam Warburton hopeful for Wales Tests in June
I have no problem with Sam Warbutton, he has been a great find for Wales and a great player too.
He say he is hoping to fit for th tour in june, if he goes on tour should he be given the captaincy? Surely the Captain is the first player on the team sheat and the team picked around him.
But surely in Sams case, shouldn't the captain atleast be expected to stay on the field and not get taken off due to injury.
Stay home and rest Sam. You will feel better in the long run.

A captain should lead by example and if he gets injured putting his body on the line then so be it.

I totaly agree with you on that no arguments at all from me. But it seems to me that he( SW) feels like he as somethink to prove by making himself avalible for the june test, just because he got injured in the Greand Slam game.

I was sat in the Newport Gwent Dragons club house and started reading their supporters club paper that is often left on the tables and read an article about the "Dragons signing Warburton" and saw his face on it, I almost fell off my chair, thinking they'd poached Sam off the Blues, but it turned out they had simply employed his brother as a physio.
Very funny at the time though!
Ben was apparently a left wing though and is quite a lot shorter than his twin brother.
I shouldn't say this but their father is English too from London, so England could of got him instead of us!

SAMs unlucky, different injuries thankfully.
Did anyone notice he was carrying it for the last 5 mins of the first half and he was still going in to rucks - one arm - which is probably not strictly legal
I'm more worried about the knee injury, good thing is he'll have a nice rest.
