9 Chris Leck
1 Kyle Traynor

Substitutes: 16 Alun Walker, 17 Lewis Niven, 18 Ulises Gamboa, 19 Robert McAlpine, 20 Alan MacDonald, 21 Alex Black, 22 Gregor Hunter, 23 Sep Visser
Strabge backrow with Roddy playing 6 and McInally playing 7, I would have had them the other way round. Meh never mind.
Come on the Burgh, get a win and build some momentum for Toulouse!

Strange having our 6 and 7 the wrong way round, and worryingly he said rambo might be used there at some point against toulouse??

Our back row for Toulouse should be Dents, Rennie and Talei/McInally. With Either Grant or McInally on the bench.
McInally at 7 would be a mistake against Toulouse. Dusatoir was staggering in every match he played in for France and to not balance our own backrow would be a mistake. Like the look of our backline though.

Moffatesque McInally selection - has he been taking tips from buffoon Robinson?! Otherwise, fine looking back line, shame that Traynor and Gilding just aren't up to scratch

Agreed, why tinker?
Btw I thought Rob McAlpine was at Glasgow? I know Edinburgh lack cover at 2nd row though.
http://www.glasgowwarriors.org/content/view/2575/52/
More importantly though is he any good?
I havent seen any of them play but what are the up and coming 2nd rows like? Are any of them nasty enough?
Campbell, Templeton for example and McAlpine

McAlpine came off the bench a few weeks ago. He's an absolute beanpole and needs to put some bulk on! Other than that I couldn't really tell much from one game.

Campbell is close, just behind Gilchrist in development, and looks to have an edge about him. Templeton further back, McAlpine still needs to fill out - get eating some pies, laddie!

Like the look of the backline. Leonard and Scott playing together is pleasing and Fife deserves another shot after a strong debut.
Front row is dodgy, but pleased to see Kelly back.
Might go to this if I can escape work on time.

Re: Edinburgh Team to face the Dragons
I think I have said this a few times this season but Edinburgh really need to win this one. I know we are still without a truckload of important international players; Jacobson, Ford, Cross, Rennie, Denton, Laidlaw, Blair, NDL and Jones but we really need to win this one.
I think we can but if we want to be taken seriously by Toulouse we really need to get some wins and some momentum.

Would wooden spoon wonders make any difference ?
Only kidding, should be a good match. People calling Tovey not playing a punishment need to re-think. We need to bed in our back up fly halves, we arent going to win anything this season so best time to do it. Playing Tovey will just help Kaaarrrrrdifff in the long run.
Anyone know if its televised ?

I have to admit I'm glad Edinburgh'll be missing their internationals, they've played a great brand of rugby this season.

Come on Radge, this is Scottish rugby. Winning isn't important, it's all about the performance, making line breaks and lots of passes. As long as the guys play well in that regard, I won't mind the missed tackles, leaking points and daft decisions.

Re: Edinburgh Team to face the Dragons
I certainly hope that garbage is not contagious. Embra have had no trouble scoring tries in the past. We just need to learn how to stop the other team Scoring and we are at the races!
Having said that we didn't let too many tries pst us in the HC, if only we could bring that resolute defence to the Pro 12 I seriously doubt we would be languishing at the bottom of the table. I'm expecting a win. If we can't beat the Dragons on our home turf what chance do we have against Tolouse?

Re: Edinburgh Team to face the Dragons
You should win, our away form is terrible.
But Brew is off soon so he may pull out the stops to try and score again in a Dragon's short.
Chavangah got a try with pretty much his only touch of the ball.
And Looooong Dog Charteris is back to Captain ( though hes off soon too...)

Edinburgh defence leaks more than the Iraqi navy. Just goes to show the defencive work of NDL in the middle. Without him Edinburgh leak so many trys!

Re: Edinburgh Team to face the Dragons
It's looking good 23-12 to the dragons at half time. Chavhanga's helped himself to 2 tries and it sounds like Steff's having a good game. Cross-field kick for 1 try and his goal kicking has been excellent. Jason who??? Pooled??? Let's hope we keep the scoreboard ticking over and sneak thus one. Our 2nd half performances are on the whole, poor. Fingers crossed. With Connacht at home next week, maybe we can start dreaming!!

Great win by the Dragons, 14-point margin in Edinburgh is amazing for a development region.

Re: Edinburgh Team to face the Dragons
The lack of our international class evidently cost us tonight. Its been a steep learning curve for a lot of the Edinburgh fringe players and youngsters. The plus side is they will be getting bags of experience.
Its the best positive I can take from a night like tonight.

I watched the Glasgow game. Didn't see this. Scoreline is extremely predictable. Edinburgh can't stop leaking points (and yet the only defence coach out of a job is the Glasgow defence coach).
Any report on how Leonard and Scott got on? Were the front row taken to the cleaners?

It was in the run up to the reverse fixture, someone said something along the lines of "Edinburgh should be targeting this game in order to get their season back on track" and it got taken completely out of context, and ended up as " Edinburgh should beat the dragons", a couple of posters had hussy fits about it, and we all got labeled as arrogant because of it.

Re: Edinburgh Team to face the Dragons
Bsando, that's the quote that was used! 'should be putting teams like this away'. Away from home at Rodney Parade. I think it was RDW Scotland, the admin, and then he went back and changed his comment after the match, much to the annoyance/humour of a few Dragons fans!
Fair enough confidence at home, but it was that comment away from home that was a bit overboard. Especially as Edinburgh's record in Newport is not great!
Water under the bridge now though!

Fair enough, I can see how that might upset some fans. Water under the bridge indeed! Especially since Dragons have beaten us twice convincingly, well done by the way!
I didn't see tonight's match due to lack of coverage, but I thought we might have put up a better challenge having players back in the squad. How exactly did we reach QF's of Heineken cup again??
