what is D Plane?
Been hearing lots on tv, in magazines and on twitter about D-plane...
Just wondered if anyone could enlighten me as to what it is?
*note: I'm not changing my swing just merely seeking to understand what it is so when its spoken about I'm not like a spare man sausage at an orgy wondering what going on!

Is it the thing you fly in on if you're D Man?

Wish I could elaborate on it! I've heard Denos Pugh and Simon Holmes mention and a few others to so thought I'd seek advice, hopefully someone can enlighten us all then

Re: what is D Plane?
Oh. That's all it is. I don't get all this "New ball flight laws" stuff - they've always been this way. This sounds like a load of hocus pocus to describe the basic physics of ball flight.
For example, it's just a load of snake oil to describe the fact that if you want to hit a push-draw (i.e. starting right of target and drawing back) you can do it by, say, a swingpath (at impact) of, say, +4° and a clubface angle (at impact) of, say, +2°. In other words, the clubface is closed to the swingpath with respect to the target line.
It's using what Trackman has confirmed to everyone a while back, which is that the clubface angle determines maybe 85% of the initial launch direction. Faldo, Chamblee etc don't get it and still peddle the line that it's swingpath that dictates launch direction.
Rather amusingly, this is straight out of S&T teachings.

Re: what is D Plane?
I tried reading an explanation about D-plane but decided after about 2 sentences I'd be better off oblivious.

Re: what is D Plane?
I can't imagine anyone bringing up D-plane in a conversation so I wouldn't worry to much about it...

I think it translates into "the plane" from Jamaican.

It's what people do these days instead of disembarking.
