Kell Brook to face "TOP" opposition July 7th?
First topic message reminder :
Eddie Earn has stated that Kell Brook will be back in sheffield on 7th July to fight against a yet to be named opponent. He did state that the opponent would be "a top name".
Who could this be and will he really be what we define as "world class"?

Kell Brook to face the mighty BRADLEY PRYCE! (been far too long since his name was mentioned on this board).
Course this announcement does put paid to my "Bradley Pryce tipped to face Matthew Hatton" article.

Anyone think Margarito could make Welter and fancies a trip to Sheffield?

Judging by the usual standard of Kell Brook opponents I would imagine the prospective fighter willing to make the trip to Sheffield Town Hall needs to see if he can get the time off work first. Those dustbins ain't going to clean themselves you know. Brook may in trouble with the authorities as well. I have heard that Customs and Excise are chasing him up on the amount of imported tomato cans he has brought over to the UK in the last 5 years.Sugar Floyd Louis wrote:Sooooo has the person been announced yet?

He had no punch power at LWW so isnt even gonna make Kell blink with his punches..... No doubt Paulie is a far bigger name and will get him invaluable recognition in America but not one I would expect him to lose anymore than I did against Hatton..... Though there could be the added bonus of a title thrown into the mix if Paulie beat Senchenko.
Paulie has been seen as the gate keeper for a long time, he doesn't have a great punch but he has speed and a great will to win what ever it takes. First time I saw him was against Cotto and it looked like they had shoved a tennis ball in his mouth during the rounds it was that swollen. He would actually turn up to win not just for a pay check which a number of Brooks opponents have.

Pauline knows he wouldn't beat Kell and I'm afraid he WOULD turn up for a paycheck. The fact Eddie Hearn mentioned Mosley as a potential opponent shows what ambitions they have

The Cotto fight was nearly 6 years ago though. He's since been easily beat by Hatton and Khan so I don't see how he can be viewed as a "top name" or a relevant test for someone like Brook. Although I see he's actually managed to stop someone in the last couple of years.. Brook really needs a test and soon..

Eddie Hearn has just Tweetered the following :
Lots of people asking who @SpecialKBrook next opponent is. I can't tell you as I really don't know yet! Probably need a week to 10 days

Well its unlikely to be any of the names mentioned thus far if Hearn plans on announcing it in about ten days. Most of the names in the division are tied up before then. Maybe they dont really have anyone lined up and just threw the "top name" out there to generate some attention.
I just hope its not going to be someone like Katsidas or Morales.

I'd heard it could be Malignaggi.
Poor fight that, if it came off.

At the moment Senchenko would be a good match up for him but it would be hard to dismiss Malignaggi as a viable opponent if he does win their fight.

Re: Kell Brook to face "TOP" opposition July 7th?
Its highly unlikely to be a world title fight I think for the July date I think. The winner of Senchenko/Malignaggi would probably not be interested in fighting Brook abroad and I dont think that would be announced in the next two weeks. They are looking for someone who can sell 10,000 seats so for me that would probably rule out guys like Zavek. I know Katsidas is having a tune up at 140lb in soon and to be honest hes the sort of fighter I think they would try and get. Hes willing to travel, has limited options and has familiarity in the UK as well as being quite popular here.
