Southern Hemisphere Lions...?
As the excitement builds over 18 months away from the next British and Irish Lions tour, four nations, technically five, come together and tour one of the Southern Hemisphere nations. This time its the Australians, possibly the form team of World Rugby, young, fast devastating in counter attack.
But how much fun would it to have a reverse fixture?
The best of South Africa, Argentina, New Zealand and Australia combined touring the UK. Maybe attempting a three match series vs one nation or maybe touring all Six Nations in one go with one off tests.

Can we start beating their teams individually first before we let them all band together? Otherwise it could just get nasty...

Re: Southern Hemisphere Lions...?
A South African,a Kiwi and an Aussie go into a bar to have a beer. The South African drinks his beer, throws his glass in the air, pulls out his gun and shoots the glass to pieces, and says 'In Seth Efrika our glasses are so cheap we dont have to drink out of the same one twice.".
The Kiwi, having seen the South African, drinks his beer, throws his glass in the air, pulls out his gun and shooots the glass to bits, and says " Well mate.in Niw Zulland weve got so much sand that we dont have to drink out of the same glass twice".
The Aussie looks at the other two, then picks up his beer, downs it in one gulp.then throws his glass in the air, pulls out his gun and shoots the South African and the Kiwi, and says " In Stralia weve got so many blood ee South Africans and Kiwis we dont have to drink with the same ones twice".
I think a Southern Hemisphere Lions team would probably end up with a similar result.

Where's your sense of adventure mate, your sense of belief?
It will be great to see Ozzies (without guns), Kiwi's and Saffers sit shoulder to shoulder at Twickenham, Millenium stadium, Croke Park or Murrayfield wearing a barbarian style black, yellow and green jumper.
Come to think of it all those colours are on the SA flag.
Yep, great idea.

It's all good................................................................................. until is isn't.
It's when it isn't all good that the trouble starts. The Ozaffwis loose their first tour...... who get's the blame? Because blame is one of the most important traditions. Which player or players do we pin the 'loser' tag onto? And he/they won't be Ozaffwis then. Nope, they'll be reminded what shirt they usually wear. The player and his nation then have that particular sh** hit the fan anytime their brotherly neighbours want a blunt weapon to strke out with. Next tour and the stresses rise. "I hope it ain't our fault again this time, mate...couldn't live with another four years of that"

Ozaffwis
You might as well make it the Ostriches.
No worries, we'll blame Bryce Lawrence.
Even if he wasn't there

Not only him Tycroes. One or two English were on that plate too. It's fun for the feeders but it's bloody cruel on the players who bought into this bull about brotherly oneness They maybe lived it by the happy-go-lucky, havin-a-larf pool and on the field, but their supporters ALWAYS know who they are - they never really suffer a genuine identity crisis. All Hail the Lions.

Loved Scott Gibbs dumping Os Du Randt on his backside about ten foot before where he dared try tackle the fastest prop in the world in '97...

Just shows you, you get tacked back once in 6450 minutes of rugby, having an off day, not looking at the opponent because you are focused on catching a bad pass off balance and it creates a legend.
The legend lives on.
His name is Os du Randt.

To be fair Ive seen Gibbs do similar to forwards as big in union and league so Os isnt on his own. Although Im assuming your talking about this gents which was Os' tackle not the other way around.

Can't see it working. As I understand it, whilst most of us would support a NH side against a SH one - apart from some of the terminally one-eyed, most SH supporters take great joy from the (admittedly rare) occasions when one of the others gets turned over buy NH oppsition.
As somebody said above, I could see it turning into a massive exercise in backbiting and pinning blame.
And, if that's not enough, can you imagine what they'd do to us!

Wicked, I am not so sure about wanting to see other SH teams being turned over.
I certainly don't fall in that category. Besides this thread is more tongue in cheeck than a potential reality anyway.

Re: Southern Hemisphere Lions...?
I have no problem seeing the other SH sides go down to the NH. If we over-demanding Kiwi fans seek perfection from our own team we also seek it in the cosmos!
I must also bring up the claim of the OP that Australia are the form team of world rugby. They won the last ever 3N (the kiss of death for the World Cup) and deservingly so but they didn´t seem to me to be the form team of world rugby in the semi final. See what I mean about over-demanding?!
I´d actually love to see a combined team.
1. Woodcock 2. Du Plessis 3. O Franks
4. Bekker 5. Whitelock
6. Broussow 7. Pocock 8. Burger
9. Genia 10. Carter
11. Ioane 14. Jane 15. Beale
12. Nonu 13. Forie
Bench: McCaw, Roussow, (lock and backrow), Dagg, O'Connor, SBW, Fran Steyn, Samo (as a back replacement)
Who cares if the bench doesn´t have forwards replacements. Just get that back artillery on the field and the goalkicker Steyn and enjoy the show.

The truth is that scratch sides struggle against settled Test teams. The SH combined would be nowhere near as good as their individual parts.

Not far from my team Kia. I do think ou are being a little too humble with your players though. But either team will do a great job.

Australia were`nt very convincing for much of the Rwc,or 3N for that matter.
But a Celebration NH v SH series would be fine ,there was one in mid 1960`s
2 matches SH won both.
I won`t pick a team I`m to biased they would nearly all be NZ.
