Hi, just a slight quibble, the 28th of March is actually today. Monday was the 26th.
For me the big result of today (Wednesday March 28) is Roddick losing in straights to Juan Monaco 5-7, 0-6.
That is some way for him to come back down to earth.

I know the feeling, I can NEVER drink during a workout, I get exactly the same feeling, it's like you're nauseous before being sick, instead of being refreshed by water you feel bad. But then again I know I'm like that so I hydrate well before and after, and the spinning clases are never longer than 45 minutes and they are indoors in a ventilated area.
stop putting vodka in your gym bottle, that'll sort it out!
I don't even have a gym bottle. I only bought a bottle of water ONCE just as everyone else seemed to be having one...still don't understand why they drink it non-stop...wait a minute ....

A gutsy win from Andy but patchy at times. Credit to Tipsarevic though as he is very durable but Andy just had too much in the end. Next up for Andy is possibly Rafa Nadal. He'll need to up his game but hopefully he'll go with the aggressive route for that match. More ranking points in the bank though and hopefully he can get over his stomach problem before the semi.

I have a separate one for the 26th here - https://www.606v2.com/t26620-miami-masters-2012-monday-26-march-2012-oop
Monaco lost to Roddick yesterday (27th).
Did I make a mistake in dates?

Quite looking forward to the rest of the tourney.
Tsonga - Nadal could be sort of interesting. I suspect there is only going to be one winner there and he is not named Tsonga, but Tsonga, when he plays well, could push Nadal a bit and give us some indication where Nadal's game is at.
Then likely Murray - Nadal on Friday. I am still surprised how relatively poor Andy's record is against Nadal given that I have always thought that his game could match up quite well against Rafa - almost sort of like Novak's (albeit with some material differences). Murray disappointed me in some of his recent matches against Rafa where I thought he was too passive and I do not think he can win like that - unlike Novak I do not think he can rally with Nadal on equal terms so I think he needs to be more aggressive. Anyway, I am quite looking forward to this one.
Final most likely Djoker against either Rafa (more likely) or Andy. I have to admit that tennis-wise I am not a huge fan of either match-up. That said, and to my own surprise, I am actually quite looking forward to a potential next installment in the Novak - Rafa rivalry. Not so much the tennis itself, but I am just really intersted to see if Rafa will have come up with a better plan. My feeling is that he will not be able to do that - that somewhat similar to Roger's match-up against him - he just may not have the tools that he would need to change the dynamics dramatically. That said, he is a fighter and a champion and - again somewhat similar as Roger against him - I am sure he will not give up and will try to come up with something.

5 points seprated Nadal from Tsonga. According to Nadal, neither played well.
So it's Djoko v Ferrer and Nadal v Murray.
But we are only Thursday, so I assume the semis are played Today and tomorrow, with the final on Sunday after resting Saturday.
Spread too much in my view but Djoko should win the thing.

Sounds like Nadal should have won in straights being a set and a break up but Tsonga's form picked up slightly, or Nadal got tight...not sure which.
Yep, cant see Nadal winning on this current form, and Djoko's form is still high. But hey...you never know with Ferrer, he can be a real thorn in the side at times. I believe all semis on Friday and final Sunday.

Tenez, Nole is playing FOR a SF against Ferrer, it's quarters, the winner plays the winner of Fish Monaco, the other QF match of the top half.Tenez wrote:5 points seprated Nadal from Tsonga. According to Nadal, neither played well.

I"m assuming both semis will be played either tomorrow or on Saturday. bottom half has an extra day of rest in any case.

No sportsmanship incidents during the Nadal-Tsonga match?
It's amazingly quite given the fact it's the day after a Nadal match..

I watched Bartoli match and was dead tired for anything else knowing I had to get up early today ...still, the main thing The Knee held against Tsonga, so we're to expect a quiet Nadal Murray match. Can't wait

Bartoli really makes me laugh! She is such a character. She looks the most unatural player ever.....which is weird as she has got a pretty good timing.

That should be a subject thread in itself.
I see timing as one of the best criteria for talent. Yet you have players like Lendl and Bartoli who look almost clumsy on the court, but have amazing timing (certainly Lendl).

I love watching Bartoli. She is so intense and focused. To me she is an utter gem. Plays her tennis with the spirit. At that level, that makes ALL the difference. They can all hit their groundstrokes well.

we're all still recovering form last night, plus I need to go the gym, I don't know how I"m gong to drag myself there in this sleep-depraved state
Anway, Laverfan has taken Miami upon herself, so she'll probably update it later.
I did IW last week only to have other people start their individual match threads which defeated the purpose of one unified thread.

THis MOTD format has got me confused. Especially as the dates are not regularly updated.
I like the simpler Miami - Day X or Miami 1/4F.

Personally, I am not losing interest. I'd say that since the vast majority of posters here are Federer fanatics and he has been knocked out that is why the thread has died somewhat. Nadal fans are loathe to post here as their comments are said to be not worth their salt and likewise Murray fans hence you are left with NiTb and one or two others to pick off the scraps.

Laverfan has been doing a fantastic thread for the last few days.
I think you will find, if you check on the ATP site, ROTLA that the schedule of play for today is not quite up yet - remember the time difference!

That is true. Nevertheless, hard to judge Nadal's form from this match. Tsonga was self-destructing for the best part of the first two sets and Nadal was comfortably cruising without having to do anything special. Then all of a sudden Nadal got tight when serving for it at 5:4 in the second set and allowed Tsonga back in. Tsonga picked his game up thereafter and Nadal did not look like he was quite ready to do the same but in the end still played well enough to pull through.
Yes, the semis are both Friday, with Saturday reserved for the ladies' final. They play men's semis on Friday here but on Saturday at the US Open. I wish they did it the other way around.

Tsonga is just struggling to find the form he had over the early part of last summer and later in the year atm - he is both a very exciting player and an extremely frustrating one to support!

it hasn't hurt my feelings but it has dampened the spirit for doing anything similar. Majority of people here are not interested in tennis anyway, they just come to vent out their frustrations. Just look at the percentage of people that actually comment on matches, i.e. watch any, as opposed to those who go round in circles with two or three players non-stop.
It happened more than once that I was the only person commenting on those match watching threads while at that very same time the majority was happily throwing mud at each other in Fedal wars....

I do have a vision of Federer fanatics hiding in a bunker in Henman Hill plotting the untimely death of Rafael Nadal. They might train the hawk they use on Centre Court to chase off pigeons to peck him to death if he reaches the final of Wimbledon this year

Err obviously not a lot as is why ROFLA was pointing out how dead this thread was and as I already pointed out the vast majority of posters here are Fed fans so evidently as a majority they actually don't comment on anything other than Fed matches. Those that post on Nadal matches do so to denigrate the bloke as in see Enough Is Enough and Sportsmanship threads so that is hardly worthy of credit is it?

Those that post on Nadal matches do so to denigrate the bloke as in see Enough Is Enough and Sportsmanship threads so that is hardly worthy of credit is it?

NO, wozniacki breaks as Sharapova serves for the match..
2 good looking women on court but still.. those matches are too long.
They should play best of 1 set matches

A decent start by Monaco. Into the groove and has a good length and is an early break up and leads 3-0. Fish very wayward so far.
