The Andy Goode no-citing post
In an ugly and disappointing incident last evening, Ex-Tiger Goode followed a cynical YC with a straight red for what Auntie describes as a shoulder charge but I more liken to a forearm smash on Tom Croft.
A citing should be inevitable followed by a season-ending ban.
A clip would be appreciated.

He heard that Croft had scarfed all the after-match pies and got v angry - mitigating circumstances, judge Blackett? Ban = 3 hours

Nah, he thought it was half time and was rushing for the buffet. Croft just got in the way.

At the end of the Ben Youngs citing article on the BBC, it notes that Goode will not receive any further punishment

Re: The Andy Goode no-citing post
Let's analyse this incident
There were no wrapping arms involved in the 'tackle', a neck-high leading forearm, on a player who wasn't in possession of the ball.
I don't think that there was any intent to injure but there was a high level of recklessness.
On the Youngs citing post, people claim that the 'big clubs' get preferential treatment in citings - but not in this case apparently.
Don't get me wrong - I remain a fan of the pie-man and I respect him for his past contribution to the Tigers - but this incident shouted out for a citing referral.
I'm reminded of in many ways of the Lawes' ban during the RWC - which I still consider unjust.
But he was cited and banned for a much lesser offence.

Re: The Andy Goode no-citing post
I am pretty sure I heard that he and Tom Croft were seen shaking hands and having a bit of a laugh after the game. Could this have any bearing on the matter? If it is true then well done both of them for dealing with like rugby players should.
Re: The Andy Goode no-citing post
I was under the impression that citing was automatic following a red card. Is that not true?

I think all red card incidents are looked at but not necessarily followed up on.
Re: The Andy Goode no-citing post
So do you think that had Hartley not been blanked by Ireland after the game, the whole incident would have been brushed under the carpet?
And there again, would that be an appropriate way to administer justice?
The citings officers are supposed to be independent. Not part of a cosy club.

No, I don't, I think that was always going to lead to citing because of the offense and the fact that it had been reported to the ref. The Goode incident is very different and could easily have led to citing but it didn't. I am merely wondering if the behaviour of the 2 players after the match could have had an influence.
Re: The Andy Goode no-citing post
If either of the Tuilagis had been responsible for that action, would they have been in front of a citing tribunal?
