My thoughts on Mania weekend....
Un.be.lievable. I'm a huge Brock mark so i'm stoked he's back.
Lesnar and Rock back. Punk and Bryan rising to prominence. Matt Bloom debuting at Lord Tensai. A top notch Mania. The WWE have definitely gone up a gear or two.
I wonder how Dixie Carter & Hogan might be feeling right now. Have TNA ever been such an afterthought and so far away from the WWE as they are now? I cant believe Kurt Angle & Jeff Hardy arent looking on and are not thinking 'i want to be part of that'.
A few things -
Can anyone tell me who was the last person before Punk to win the title at Survivor Series and hold it all the way through to Mania and succesfully defend it at Mania?
Randy Orton is far from a jobber, but in the last year he's cleanly put over Mark Henry and Kane aswell as putting over Christian and Barrett. Has Orton lost a bit of his 'star power' due to his willingness to put others over? He isnt a huge draw when he holds the strap as a face, i think this summer is massive for him and has got heel turn written all over it. I think he needs it.
Want to say too that John Cena has massively disappointed me this weekend. I dont think he truly turned up on Sunday, from a personal perspective i dont think he brought his A-game and i thought The Rock in the most part carried him. The Rock gave that match the buzz and appeal, not Cena. Also KB is right about Cena no selling Lesnar's entrance, what is his problem? He's such a goof at times. Is he bitter that Rock & Lesnar have created such hysteria that he could only dream of? I think he's been really unprofessional for about 2 months now.
Once again - Hell in a Cell- wow. The 'old guard' sure showed us how its done. THAT is how to tell a story. Made me realise how much the rest of the roster has to learn and how Triple H has a point when he said he'd get a better match out of a mop then some guys in the back!
Just one last thing, Dolph Ziggler could sell ice to an eskimo.
That is all.

I was going to say Psycho Sid, but he dropped it at Mania 13. :d'oh:
I am literally trying to think......Taker won it at SS 91.
I remember Edge winning a title at SS. 2007? Dropped it to Taker at WM24?

HBK won it at SS 1997. Dropped it at Mania 14
Cena in 2005/06 at SS? I know he retained twice at Mania.

Have to agree about Orton. His star power is seemingly fading, and a heel turn would hopefully freshen him up a bit, and i'm sure everyone agrees "heel Orton" is far better than "face Orton"
I'm hoping that at some stage during his time back in the WWE we get a "Lesnar vs. Orton" fued.

Diesel won the title within a week of Survivor Series 1994 and held it until Surivor Series 1995. I think thats the closest until you go back to Yokozuna who went King of the Ring 1993 to Wrestlemania 10 (1994).

Randy Orton 07/08?
Didn't win it at Survivor Series but won it at No Mercy just before when he was awarded it, lost it and won it back then went through to Mania 24 defending it in the triple threat.

Re: My thoughts on Mania weekend....
Just realised it was 10 years yesterday that Lesnar debuted in WWE, well just about it was the night after Mania 18.
I have to admit I know we slate WWE alot for getting things wrong, but when they get it right its spot on perfect.
A great Wrestlemania, followed by a better Raw.
The only guy I can think of holding the title from Survivor Series past Wrestlemania is The Miz, though he won the belt the night after on Raw obviously.

In any case kudos to Punk. He won the title on November 20th and walked out of Mania still as Champion. Are the WWE behind him as a top guy? I'd say so. The next PPV is Extreme Rules in Chicago. I've got a feeling he's dropping the title in his hometown.

Randy Orton won it at No Mercy 2007 which was two pay-per-views before Survivor Series. Then retaining it at Mania 24 against Cena and HHH

Re: My thoughts on Mania weekend....
JBL Held it from the great american bash in June 04 until Mania. Surely that is still longer than Punks atm (but can see them starting to mention this soon and Punk will overtake him if he retains at Summerslam)
