The Official Masters Thread

Anyone (within reason) could win it. Take away the has-been previous winners and there is a huge number of possible winners. Who ever is in good form, has some luck when it is needed and has a great putting 4 days is your man. Who that is, is anyone's guess.

There is a thread for masters chat and when kwini's article comes there will be at least two.
Further, in what way is this official?

Yankee,
If you can post a photo of yourself in a Green Jacket, then this can be the "Official" thread!!

It'll be the usual story with Woods I'd imagine. Million dollar smile if the birdies and long putts are going in but the saliva and clubs will soon be going airborne if and when things start going boss-eyed.

Anyone know if the jinx applys to past winners of the Masters ? Or is it just guys who havent won it at all yet ? Suppose its quite possible that a past winner has never won the par 3 comp after winning their green jacket. Not that it matters obviously, just curious....

Woods usually throws his ball in the water at the 9th in the Par 3 comp, if there is any chance that he will win it.
Not that he is Superstitious or anything ?

you see the truth is tiger could go out there and win the par 3- get a decent poulter shirt final day rather than his mundane red one and still win the thing!!
lol I not a massive tiger fan, and am a big poulter fan- But i would really laugh at that scenario

I wonder how many people think Poulter's clothing is "decent"?

Hi Guys, decided to take a punt on the masters and not being highly knowledgeable of the sport I was wanting to check your opinions on my investment, I lumped £20 (each way) on Hunter Mahan, my reasoning, he's world number 4, managed a win last week and is american (if home advantage counts in these matters), plus a 33/1 he seemed decent value as I didn't want to go for anyone too short such as Rory or Tiger.
So in your much more knowledgeable opinions are his chances of a top 5 finish good or have I made a grave mistake?
Thanks

I always back Justin Rose in the majors. For an outsider I've gone for Martin Laird who had a couple of good rounds at the Masters last year.
The weather is not looking too good there tonight.

yep v good pick, however i allways get my outsiders in early- you would havbe got 70 on him a week ago , or even 120 a couple of months ago! all the same good pick- a form player. I have backed him to be top american at 15/1

Sandy Lyle hasn't won a tournament of any note since The Dead Sea was merely feeling unwell and is now about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. Sandy, you once did our country proud but please, just retire. Now.

The thing about these old hasbeens chopping about the place is that it could put off their playing partners. Bit like being drawn with a 28 handicapper in the monthly medal.

Super
I tend to withdraw if I get drawn with anyone higher than a 10 handicap. Beyond that you may as well slug it round with a shovel.

I get my young grandson really wound up by singing 'everybodies shovelling' instead of shuffling.

Is that because it should be "everyday i'm shovelling" rather than "everybodies"? That would wind me up as well to be fair!

Yes sir SR, i think i made that same point on anotrher thread.. Gotta feel for the Hoover, I think that group was combined over 40 over par, and i would guess if hoover was in a group with actuall pro's(he played with an old timer and an amatuer) he would have made the cut out there
