Exchange - a - WUM
First topic message reminder :
I just spent an amusing few minutes browsing the ' Don't be a one section hermit ' thread, was delighted to see that the fame of our favourite eccentric, the redoubtable and inimitable D4, has spread beyond our borders. He now enjoys notoriety and affection - in equal measure , in the sunnier climes of the tennis forum, and is also getting a foothold with the folks at the rugby league and football sections. Of particular note is the number of Chelsea supporters who now wish Ancelotti to spend some of his master's roubles in tempting Manny Pacquiao to operate in centre midfield for Chelsea next season, and how some are calling for Manny to be given a wild card entry into the American Open at Flushing Meadow at the end of this year. Manny will be seeded with Ilie Nastase, Rod Laver, John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg in his side of the draw. At the special request of Freddie Roach it has also been agreed that all players will play left handed except, of course, Laver and McEnroe.
Anyway, back to the point.
I expect you'll all remember that, as kids, there was a ' school exchange ' system in operation. I remember my sister exchanged with a French girl, name of Dubost, and as a healthy seven year old I was most disappointed to find out that the exchange was only temporary. I would have happily surrendered my sister in order that I could live with Mademoiselle Dubost, who seemed to me to be every schoolboy's dream. Sadly, showering her with Liquorice Allsorts and copies of Ring magazine were to no avail, and my passion remained unrequited. Anyway, she came to live with us for a while, and my sister later toddled off to France to acquaint herself with the French language and snails. All very cultural and to everybody's benefit.
I haven't run this by the admin fellas yet, but I thought it might be fun to operate an ' Exchange - a - WUM ' system here at 606v2. It would work like this :
Every month, each forum has a poll in which members vote for ' WUM - of - the - month, ' with the understanding that each elected WUM cannot serve consecutive terms. He CAN be re - elected, but only after a period of three months. Said WUM would then be required to surrender his passport for ONE WEEK, during which he practises his trade at another forum. We, in turn, enjoy the company of a WUM from another forum during the same period. Imagine, if you will, the joy to be derived when, amidst the tedium of ' Who had the best jab in history ? ' we can also sample fare along the lines of ' Federer is a ducker - still won't play Rafa, ' or ' Gooners are chokers, ' and perhaps even the strange phenomenon by which Time runs at a different speed at Old Trafford when Manchester United aren't winning. Being as we are, twenty first century progressive chaps and ladies, multi - culturalism should be reflected in the forum, in my opinion. I can already imagine how, a few short months from now, we'll be waxing lyrical about the topspin which Manny applies to his right hook, the footwork of Stephen Hendry, the best ' cuts ' man in golf, the stamina of Eric Bristow and the benefits of modern nutrition and training methods enjoyed by today's cricket umpires.
' Exchange - a - WUM ' makes all this possible. What say you ?

Gore won but Kerry didn't.......
You could say the same about Obama and his "acorn" operation.....
Gerrymandering happens in every election. Kerry was a useless chump.

Anyway, I'm off to the athletics board, to start an argument about whether Coe ducked Ovett, or Ovett ducked Coe, or were they both as bad as each other.
I know it was 25 years ago ,but got a hunch the Manny ?Floyd debate will last that long

An excellent idea Windy, if only Spring were still about to send across to the other boards. Or maybe Alex Daman for an equestrain related rap or two?
Re: Exchange - a - WUM
Borg, 54, is ducking Murray, 23, because Murray, 23 is younger than Volkov, 44 who Borg last played.

Spring was marvellous wasn't he, Fists ?
When I first read his offerings, they appeared random, but the more often they appeared, the more I realized that they had a certain, seductive ' rhythm ' and were like poems in miniature.
Very entertaining. He is sorely missed.

How about Eric ? Turned from rapper to priest ? Wrote an excellent rendition of One foot in the grave if I can remember rightly, poor Jeff got drafted in as the old man in Windy's absence at the time.

I concur Windy, the Edward Chaucer of our times.
What I found most amusing was whenever a newly registered poster came across one of Spring's fine offerings, the utter bemusement caused and their incredulous response always made me chuckle.

Eric, formerly known as John Da Chef, and before that, Alex Daman, was a hero of mine on the old 606. His rap of one foot in the grave was outstanding, but none more so than his Setanta rap, the day after it went down the pan, and also his prizefighter rap deserves an honorable mention.

Funny you should say that, Fists, since I used to IMAGINE the newbies' faces as they read his masterworks. Always made me laugh.
Jimmy, Eric would be another worthy addition to our ranks. Wonder what he's up to ?

Fists, Windy
Yeah good fun and totally harmless, hopefully someone can signpost the pair over here.
Or print some abstracts from previous work as a substitute.

Nearly got away with it, I maintain if you calculate it in dog years 38 is not far off being accurate

Ha, genius. Also, the favourite film being 'de one about de comet, cos he dont wanna miss a thiiiinnngggg'.
Indeed they would be welcome members, always good for a laugh, and kept themselves to themselves outside of their masterpieces.
I may create a tribute post...

It's all because Barrera "sucks"
Eric had me thinking he was davidemore for a while, such was his holy this holy that ramblings. Only davidemore fit the bill for being that demented, hence my suspicion

I still have most of my faculties, and that, believe me, is as much an achievement as you lot having your teeth and hair, boxed or not.

I'm not the fittest bloke to start with so can only imagine the state i'd be in trying to get down to a catchweight of about 8 stone or something similar, the more I think about it I do sound pretty qualified

Re: Exchange - a - WUM
I thought it was a given that Eric was davidemoron? Oh no, thats who I was eulogising then yesterday.(sinks to his feet,Charlton Heston/Planet of the Apes style)
"No..!I feel such a fool!!".
Definitely one of the best in my opinion ,from my brief time on the old boards. However the "bromance me, Dave"- type comments from davidemoron were so demented I couldn't help laughing.

Speaking of old timers, I stumbled across Ceej1979 on the ESB forum yesterday. I'm not a member myself but happened to notice a topic by him on the main page, so couldn't resist clicking! Nothing too outlandish in there though, rather disappointingly.

If ever I was in any doubt about whether to return to Eastside that information ends that debate for ever. If Ceej is stalking eSB think it is safe to assume STC will be a more frequent visitor to these pages
