ATP 1000: Monte Carlo (Daily Order Of Play)!
First topic message reminder :
Monte Carlo.... tennis is finally coming home!
After weeks of sleepless nights caused by travelless jetlag, tennis caravan is back to where it belongs and looks best: Europe!
Ahead are a few potentially historically huge months:
Novak Djokovic could be the first man after Rod Laver to hold all 4 slam titles.
He could also be the first man to achieve the Golden slam, if he wins the gold at the Olympics.
All grand dreams, very difficult to achieve, yet, for this grand dreamer, nothing is impossible
Back to Monte Carlo, and the first 1000 Masters even on clay:
Bar Federer's last minute wild-card change of mind, all the best players are in town:
*Legendary Rafael Nadal with his mind-boggling 7 straight tournament wins.
*Novak Djokovic with his mind-boggling 7 straight finals wins over Nadal
*Andy Murray , pressure free and hungry. Could surprise many.
*David Ferrer, the eternal bridesmaid...will give someone a great workout in the semi-final!
*Delpo? No Federer in the draw, may release the "old" smooth powerhouse.
and.....
everybody else except the Biggest clay question mark called Isner, who withdrew from the tournament needing rest and preparation for the remainder of the season.

Easier to follow, PDF version of the draw:

Order of play for Wednesday, 17th of April (no PDF version yet):
http://www.atpworldtour.com/Scores/schedule.aspx?EventId=410&Year=2012&Seq=5
Set in the glorious scenery of glittering, breath-taking sparkling Medditeranean vista, I will be there daily in spirit sighing and dreaming....
For Monte Carlo with its vintage charm, class and timeless air of dolce vita is my favourite tournament (let's leave that heart-breaker called Wimbledon out of this conversation just this once!)
I have bought a large vintage poster of Monte Carlo recently, and it hangs framed behind my desk reminding me of those days when the world took its time....and nobody moaned that much ....and ladies wore dresses when they played....and looked and behaved like ladies ....

Now, let's get into the mood, shall we?

AND, last but not the least...
GO NOLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!1

Nadal's opponent is so easy for him that he's threatening to finish a match in an hour, or just more - is that a record for him?

I was just about to continue by posting the order of play for tomorrow, I'll let the moaners do it, that's the only reason why Tenez was banned.
Gutless cowards that stalk around forums under different names
It could've also been an order from the higher ranks....no prizes for guessing why. Low.
Another proof we were right.

Wawrinka on the verge of knocking out the seeded Almagro. Quite a few surprises so far in Monte Carlo Masters.

Re: ATP 1000: Monte Carlo (Daily Order Of Play)!
posted this on another thread but just add my goodbye to T here as well:
I am really sorry to hear Tenez has been banned. Yes he had controversial views but he was courteous to other posters.
What others who have left laver? Lydian is one of my favourite posters but he often takes himself off for 'time out' - would hate to think he wouldn't be back.
I think it is such a shame - surely one could remove posts if they cross a line but to lose someone like Tenez will actually mean that a lot of fun will go out of the forum and a lot of thought provoking articles. Lose some controversy and lose a lot of the life imvho. People responded to Tenez. I will hazard a bet that whoever has complained has probably added very little in terms of adding new articles to the forum.
Just my take - but I'm very sad about this.

Re: ATP 1000: Monte Carlo (Daily Order Of Play)!
Love Monte Carlo. It is my favorite tourney next to the slams. Such a perfect place to have a tournament this time of the year. The red clay, the sea, the vistas all so perfect for Spring.
Even though it often feels like we have had more than enough of Novak/Rafa encounters, I have to admit I am hoping for another one here. After all, the alternative is only more depressing (unless you erroneously think that Andy winning here is the alternative).
Would hate it tennis wise but I could understand if Novak chose to withdraw.

Surely Monte Carlo has to be the most picturesque setting of any tennis tournament on the circuit? Great scenery. Nadal looking good now that he is getting into his swing. Djokovic, with other things on his mind, may not be in a position mentally to challenge Rafa should they both reach the final.

Only following the scores on website but Muzza has just taken the first set 7-6 (4) against Berdych. Andy M had to ward off two set points at 5-6, 15-40 and in all saved BPs in that first set. Sounds like gutsy stuff.

Re: ATP 1000: Monte Carlo (Daily Order Of Play)!
I felt compelled to actually comment here despite my timeout as I am saddened to hear that Tenez has been banned.
I would just like to state that I never ever saw him create an article subjected to annoy other posters like so many other posters do.
Also I never saw him insult a fellow poster (something I have done and others too)
Yes sometimes he could be a pain in the backside with some of his views which at times were controversial, but at least he was honest with his views and actually he didn't drum on as much as he was accused of on other forums.
As he specified many times, he never started articles about Rafa and criticising him, it was other posters creating the threads. He has the same right to comment on them and do not be surprised by the fact he will hold the same view and stance as before.
Yes he could annoy, but in fairness his views motivated posters to conducts research and find out tennis facts from past and present.
I am sad to see him go as he was like an annoying kid brother that despite the fact he could annoy and actually take the mickey and could be laugh, you can't help but love the guy.
Hope he is back posting again.

well, it could just be a 3 day ban like ive had numerous times.I felt compelled to actually comment here despite my timeout as I am saddened to hear that Tenez has been banned.
---------------
How bad was Murray? Berdych struggled to grind past Nishikori who is a clay novice. Very bad result and reiterates that Murray is not a big threat on clay, unless the key players are having bad days.

Against Berdych you have to fight fire with fire, not sit back and play one dimensional.

Berdych always capable of giving Novak a hard time, certainly won't be as easy to break his serve as it was againstg Haase. Nadal will have a routine 6-2 6-3 victory over Gilles.

Very disappointed that Tenez was banned.
It has been obvious from the recent locking of "Nadal's slippery.." that secret and cowardly pressure was put on the mods to ban him.
I'm sure most of us remember the fight we put up when the "sensitive" fans of a certain player tried to get Nameless banned.
For the same reasons - he didn't like Nadal.
The outcome was that the mods gave in and the people won.
Tenez is precious to this forum.
Bring him back or this site will fast disintegrate.
Au revoir, mon ami Tenez.
