Treviso v Glasgow Warriors
First topic message reminder :
This is a huge game for us. Tried every way to get there next Sunday but to no avail -hiring a car at Bergamo to drive 100 miles and back after the game - jeez my stamina is deserting me. WTF can you not fly from Glasgow to Venice or Padua? Anyway those clever and shrewd teuchters at BBC Alba are showing it BBC Alba fast becoming the best rugby station in the UK -outside Wales anyway. Make those wendyball clowns at BBC Scotland look foolish - although their coverage of the Melrose 7s was rather good yesterday.
C'mon the Warriors

There is exactly the reason that Jackson shouldn't ever get his hands on the Scotland 10 shirt

Great result - it was always going to be extremely tough over there and Glasgow did enough. Held out in the scrum and just toughed it out.
Welcome back DTH - you've been missed. Really looking forward to DTH, Hogg and the Lamonts combining next season.
Thought the ref was utterly amateur incidentally. The league really needs to sort that out. Consistently confusing rulings throughout the game.

FES, what decisions were a bit off? I watched the game but without the commentators, I'm at a bit of a loss to figure out what's happening!
Need to up our game if we're to beat either Os or Leinster though. Shame we won't have home advantage though...

A cunning plan by Lineen, take Weir off with 5 mins to go, get a penalty, Jackson misses off the post and after a couple plays DTH makes a superb break and wins the game!
Pack again this week not good enough and we could not create anything due to not winning the ball.
I don't know if it's erves but upfront we must regain our strength.

Re: Treviso v Glasgow Warriors
I sat down hoping for a relaxing Sunday afternoon of rugby, foolish really to expect a Scottish side to make things easy for themselves..
But wow, what a try by DTH, was out of my seat jumping for joy
Bring on Connacht!

Re: Treviso v Glasgow Warriors
Right then - so that makes it:
1 Leinster 77
2 Ospreys 67
3 Munster 62
4 Glasgow 61
5 Scarlets 57
6 Ulster 56
Everyone has played 21 games now.
I think that this means Glasgow just need a point against Connacht to clinch the spot as their record against the Scarlets does it for them. Apologies if that's wrong.
I really fancy our changes beating the Spreys - they shouldn't hold any fears for us at all, subject to our pack getting their mojo back. Leinster, er, .
Didn't see the game but the Ruck Inspector's place does not seem to have been cemented on the back of what sounds like a daft yellow card for (Italian designer) handbags.

The decision against Cusiter for dummying. The yellow cards. The kick-off that didn't go 10. The ruck that was judged a maul. Almost every scrum. The offside line, particularly Treviso players charging down the scrum half (were they really behind the ruck?? The penalty against Glasgow for collapsing that maul (that allowed Burton to put Treviso in front). Several plays on the floor by Treviso players that were judged to be legal. Glasgow players sealing off the ruck when in their 22.
It didn't really favour one side above the other (Treviso could easily have been given more for their scrummaging efforts), it was just confusing throughout.

The card was pretty harsh on both players, nothing in it really. Kellock tried to hack the ball through, he hit Gori by mistake, Gori took exception and tackled him away from the ruck, then a bit of slap and tickle on the floor. Didn't really need a yellow card.
More worryingly for Kellock was that his overall game was poor, particularly his carrying which was once again lateral. He's just a bit average at the moment, and Ryder is hot on his heels.

Re: Treviso v Glasgow Warriors
Having already given a warning for handbags, the ref really had no choice but to show a yellow card to both.

Re: Treviso v Glasgow Warriors
To be honest, I thought the yellows were fair. There had been a couple of instances of handbags and I think the ref had no choice but to take charge and show them both off.
The decision for dummying was an odd one, but even Ed Kalman said that it was a fair decision.
Glasgow didn't help themselves in the scrum, yet I thought that Treviso definitely bested them in that area.
I did think that the penalty against Glasgow for collapsing the maul was a bit off as it seemed to be more Treviso pushing it over...
But the result is the thing that matters and we got the win, most definitely against the grain I would have said.

Winning when not playing well. I've heard that's what champions do.
Quite worrying that the tight five didn't protect the ball by the sounds of it. We'd get smashed by Munster or Leinster if that continues. I hope that we get the Ospreys because that's whom I'm least nervous about playing.
The last time that we met them in the semis was a dire match though. We never really hit our straps. I hope that we give Connacht a good hiding for Lineen's sake in his last home game before we usher in the Age Of Toonie.
And feck alone knows what that's going to be like, exactly...

Ryders not hot on his heels, hes miles ahead. Unfortunately Lineens the only one who doesnt see this and is one of the reasons im not as sad as some to see him go (albeit im not enthused about whos replacing him)

Yeah but Kellock's the captain, not even Andy Robinson would drop his captain for a crucial game...

If the captain isn't performing then he should be dropped. Robinson's mistake wasn't dropping Kellock, it was appointing him captain in the first place.

Re: Treviso v Glasgow Warriors
Big Al Kellock is a very popular player with the Warrior's support not least due to him being accessible to them on game nights at Firhill. Glasgow boy too - that helps believe it or not - see also Johnny Beattie and Richie Gray. However AK's form seems to have deserted him somewhat - line out not as strong and now better when Gray or Ryder takes charge. We needed a captain out there yesterday and the only one I saw taking charge was Stuart Hogg - who had a very solid game along with Gray, Fusaro, Harley and Dunbar. Don't know if Lineen dares to drop Kellock for the final game tbh but I must admit I would love to see Gray and Ryder start.
