Reddan, Murray, Sexton and Madigan.
I think these are the most attack based options which is what Ireland needs.
I would also bring Paddy Wallace (I will select him in next poll if he is there) and I'd have brough Marshall too for the experience and I think he is doing very well this season and again is an attacking off the cuff influence.

Are you sure about that?
O'Gara still top 10 among his peers
Friday April 20 2012
Ireland's love affair with Ronan O'Gara shows no sign of abating after his peers voted to include him rather than out-half rival Jonny Sexton in the final shake-up for the 2012 IRUPA Player of the Year award, writes David Kelly.
Sexton probably didn't get it because you can't vote for a player from your own province and he obviously has peed off his non-Leinster team mates big time.
Other nominees are Ferris and Kearney! Gilroy, O'Mahony & Madigan Young Player of the Year.

Don't think ROG will be left at home somehow.

He should be Sin. Not because he is a bad player but because Ireland need to move forward. I love the guy to his bones but its time to step aside. 1 or 2 more years with Munster and then into coaching i hope

Ugh - we all know who will be picked to go - any player over 30 will be straight in - though maybe the thought of playing the All Blacks might cause them to have a few judicial injuries
ROG versus Sonny Bill or any other NZ back ?

Looks like his potential Ireland team mates haven't thought about it.
This is a player's player shortlist. And you can't vote for anyone at your own province so it wasn't Munster players putting him on the short list.

On a slightly more serious note - not sure ROG really likes playing in NZ - his dummy tackle in a mid-week game on the Lions tour didn't do his reputation much good with the (English) Lions management who were used to JW - I suspect he might be happy to stay at home
I don't really know - but - is Murray in any sort of form just now - he might be better sitting the tour out and getting properly fit for next season
actually if I keep going down this tack maybe the Irish Bs should be sent to avoid the mental trauma

biltongbek, why don't you just do an Ireland XV for NZ tour article? Talk about spamming. If I was a mod I would merge your 5 threads!

Actually Billy.
I think that Sexton and Madigan are both better options to ROG.
I just didnt like dropping him because he was old. I want our best team there and ROG isnt one of our top two 10s anymore IMO.
Re: Irish halfback pairing selections for New Zealand tour
Careful. The ref didn't see it but now you can be white carded in the SH Morganwg.

Morgan, if I put it all in one poll then people complain it is too long, I did that with the springbok one and everyone had a hissy fit.

So there'll be a few jealous sheep in Sixmilebridge now, mate....
I stuffed up my vote of BB. Only picked two. Reddan and Sexton.
Can anyone guess who my other two might have been?
If you picked Murray and Madigan you'd be correct.

IT's OK LB, others have also only picked two, I don't think it matters, the poll should attrack enough numbers for the 606 selections to give us an indication.

Re: Irish halfback pairing selections for New Zealand tour
any chance of
9 - Reddan
10 - Madigan
12 - Sexton
13 - BOD
Interestingly the Crusaders have moved Carter to 12 and put in a young guy Tom Taylor at 10 - it would be interesting if they tried this for the AB's, with I guess Smith at 13

Re: Irish halfback pairing selections for New Zealand tour
I'd take all 3 pete.
Sexton was superb last night and Paddy Jackson looked very classy, I think Rava may be right about him after all. The future at 10 looks good.
ROG still has a bit in the tank but Madigan must tour. Hes a man for the present and the future.

That won't happen. Carter has been moved out to give him more time and space and work himself into form. Nonu seems to have no luck finding a Super team with any form but he will be in black alongside Smith. Cruden is playing well for the Chiefs and I imagine will be back up first five.
You want Sexton in at flyhalf to control the game in terms of kicking and attack (hopefully he is given license for the latter) and have Madigan as back up. I agree though that D'Arcy is too inconsistent in test rugby and needs replacing. Just not with someone who plays flyhalf for his club but a specialist inside centre.
