Ospreys season ticket offer 2012-2013
I'm suprised this hasn't gotten a mention yet, but the Ospreys plan to increase attendences next season by allowing all season ticket holders to bring 1 person free to each game. (And up to 4 children free on top of that).
£160 for the season ticket, which you can split in half so £80 each for 17 games, and you get a £50 voucher. So you get your jersey free basically.
I'm working that out at £3.23 a game!
Seems a great inititative to generate an atmosphere and bring fans to the Ospreys.

Outlines the benefit of the salary cap. More flexibility in pricing. I expect season ticket sales to increase substantially as a result of this.

The old BOGOF instead of reducing prices. Good idea if it generates new regular attendee that keep coming when the deal ends.

They could reduce as well if the majority of season ticket holders know another one (or will they have already renewed their tickets?)

They've entered a clause hammer so that can't happen. Not sure of the logistics though.

Holy sweet divine lanterin Jaysis. I would love that. Have to pay nearly that price PER KID. And many times that for each adult. Youse feckers better not come over here and steal our trophy again, or I will never forgive you.

Now we're talking value!!!
£160 for 2 people, plus 1 gets a shirt??? I hope the O's sellout record numbers for that, and that it catches on for all the regions!
The only problem is I suspect the regions crowd problems aren't purely financial.

If this doesn't work I don't see what will. Less than £3.50 per game, a free jersey and for most families all the kids for free. People will have to be stubborn feckers to turn their noses up.
Actually scratch that, I want a voucher good for five pints on top

I'm thinking about it and if the Blues offered the same at the CCS...?
I'd still renew my Dragons season ticket!!!

If Ospreys don't get full attendances there is no hope for regionalism.
Fair play to the Ospreys!!

Actually this season I paid £160 to sit on the half way line, 6 rows up this season. And Had a free jersey at the start of the season, I'm more interested in the part about being able to bring another adult with you every game. I think it's a great idea.

That's an incredible offer.
There's got to be a catch. Maybe you have to clean up after the next 'Taibach party'
Seriously though, it's a cracking deal.

You could end up paying €684 to sit on the 10M line in a stand where every 2nd ruck is behind a pillar. And you can't even bring kids in anywhere between the 10M lines

Crikey! And a £50 voucher!
A great deal indeed, but when you consider that Leicester have I think sold out their season ticket allocation for the following year, at prices unheard of in Wales, then it's a sad reflection of our domestic game.

Kudos to the Ospreys. Fingers crossed if we win the play offs, more stay at home fans will start to attend the Lib. Especially now the Jawnse & co have gone, the vast improvement since Tandy took over can bring more in.

Fantastic...
Great to see some generous thinking rather than the negative thinking... i will be purchasing mine. I hope many more will be purchasing theirs too.

That's true. Leicester are in the middle of an economic boom so you'd expect them to have more disposable income

The whole country is in a poor economic situation, but the poorer areas like South Wales are effected far more than the wealthier ones like the Midlands in England.

Re: Ospreys season ticket offer 2012-2013
Good initiative by the Ospreys but the product is still poor if Fridays game is anything to go by.
Edinburgh resting virtually their whole team today against the Blues & 3,500 turn up ( some in protest granted) is symptomatic of the lack of enthusiasm in many games within the Pro12.
That said I hope the Ospreys fans turn out in their numbers next season.

Fair point. Leicester does have a reputation of affluence.

Re: Ospreys season ticket offer 2012-2013
For me, this is the deal of the century, I heared about this a few weeks ago, and me and my brother are talking about going in halves for the ticket, and going down to watch, then if they wanted the kids can come as well, and what usually happens the misses and my siter in law go for some food and a coffee and me and my brawd can watch the game, it's win win. Now all we have to do is try and convince the other halfs.

Why compare them to Leicester though? Nobody can match their cult following.

alyn, is this for only games at the Liberty or does it include the Brewery field, etc... ? I thought Ospreys might actually move to another ground next season?

They won't move next season now Morg, not after anouncing this deal anyway. I don't know if this might be a tester to measure next yrs attendances in a view to a future move away from the Lib. The st will cover games (LV ones) at the Brewery field.

This sounds nuts to me. Some simple sums suggest it will reduce their income considerably, but then I'm an accountant and not a marketeer.
If the Welsh regions are giving tickets away that's got to be bad news.

If I was back home I would be all over this deal.
A great way to thank loyal supporters as well as entice those who ebb and flow as well as complete newcomers.
With another season of Premier League football assured for he city, something had to be done in order to get more numbers in to the ground.
Great work!!

With that deal on offer, if the Blues stay at the CCS I can see them losing even more supporters. 5 miles and pay £22 a game to watch an average side in an atmoshpere free stadium or 30 miles to watch a good side for £3 a game. I know which I would go for!!

Even living in Penarth which is 10 mins from the CCS I am tempted with the O's offer. Only been to the CCS once and hated it.
If this generates some decent crowds then good for them.
Just looked on their website though and get the impression this is only for new customers ....anyone confirm.

This is for 17 home games, 2 of those 17 are LV Cup games are often played at the Brewery field in Bridgend. All you do on those games is ring the ticket office and they send you a ticket free in the post, at no cost. So this season it's 15 games at the Liberty and 2 at the Brewery field. Though sometimes it is nice to go somewhere different, especially as the Brewery field is only about 8 minutes from my house!
If you go on the Ospeeys facebook page they are pairing up existing season ticket holders who are unable to bring a friend with new people who might like to go as their+1, and you can split the cost. Or so I'm told.doctornickolas wrote:Just looked on their website though and get the impression this is only for new customers ....anyone confirm.

Not really, it was rumoured the Ospreys only sold 40 walk up tickets for the Aironi game at home! If you went into the shop last friday for the Dragons game the queue to pay for items was massive, they must of made a killing on the day. For years in France teams let everyone in free and made their money selling food, and merchandise. It's a sensible business plan.
