The Impossible 8 in a Row v2
The feet of winning 8 in a row against Rafael Nadal has never been achieved by any male or female player in any era.
Most achieved was 7 in a row:
7: 2012 Australian Open Final. Winner: Djokovic 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-7(5), 7-5
6: 2011 US Open Final. Winner: Djokovic 6-2, 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-1
5: 2011 Wimbledon Final. Winner: Djokovic 6-4, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3
4: 2011 Rome ATP Masters Final. Winner: Djokovic 6-4, 6-4
3: 2011 Madrid ATP Masters Final. Winner: Djokovic 7-5, 6-4
2: 2011 Miami ATP Masters Final. Winner: Djokovic 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(4)
1: 2011 Indian Wells Masters Final. Winner: Djokovic 4-6, 6-3, 6-2
It looks like Djokovic has history against him to win against Rafael Nadal to win 8 in a row.
It has never before been achieved.

I think like social said today is all about the number 8 - either Nadal wins 8 in a row, or Nole wins 8 in a row over Nadal. History either way...but you feel Nadal needs this win more than Nole for sure.

Re: The Impossible 8 in a Row v2
How many clay tournaments have they both entered between now and Roland Garros? Maybe if Nadal loses there will still be chances for Nadal to break his losing sequence against Djokovic before Roland Garros. I agree that this final is more important for Nadal than Djokovic, psychologically wise.
Nadal has never lost a singles match at the Monte Carlo tournament, and has lost only once at Roland Garros.
If Djokovic does win, then it brings the elusive modern day grand slam (four in a row) into tighter focus.

Get a grip people!
Of course Monte Carlo is important (not of course slam important) but tennis will go on whoever wins... and so will both Nole and Rafa. No one is going to disapear in a puff of smoke because of losing one match. And no one is going to become invincible because they have won one match.

I think that's the problem with the court - too much grip on one part causing people to fall over and injure themselves (check the sister thread for further information).hawkeye wrote:Get a grip people! ...
