English Premiership - League Leaders to Champions
Season | League Leaders | Champions |
2010/11 | Leicester* | Saracens |
2009/10 | Leicester** | Leicester |
2008/09 | Leicester | Leicester |
2007/08 | Gloucester | Wasps |
2006/07 | Gloucester*** | Leicester |
2005/06 | Sale | Sale |
2004/05 | Leicester | Wasps |
2003/04**** | Bath | Wasps |
2002/03**** | Gloucester | Wasps |
* Tigers topped the table due to TBPs - Saracens won more matches
** Tigers topped the table due to TBPs - Saints won more matches
*** Gloucester were level on points with Tigers but had more wins
**** 3 team play-offs
Well it looks as though only Tigers and Sale have managed to top the League and become Champions. Also I had not realised that Tigers have yet to lose a Play-off semi and thus have contested the finals of all the 4 team play-offs.
Gloucester have been the "unluckiest"

Damn right, bl00dy Tigers!!
and bl00dy Wasps
I'm not going to get into the rights and wrongs, but to be 15 points clear and not win was very hard to take!
On a serious note, there is a strong argument that the reason Glaws topped the league in those 3 years as we had so few international call-ups to disrupt the squad compared to the other top 4 sides. As such we were able to build momentum throughout the course of the season, but by the end the other teams had caught up. I do have that nagging feeling that Quins are going to follow us down that route.

I have the scary feeling that you may be right about that HKC.
Tigers will again be the team to beat this season. What is in the water in Leicester?! They just seem to churn out winners. Sods.

They just keep doing their best for no one to like them! But you never know, Sarries may not be in form but of all the sides to go to WR, they'll be the least intimadeted by it

It might just be me but I could deal with a Tigers win, Sarries though would depress me massively.
Quins though would be best for the game
