'I'm Glad He Lost' Empty 'I'm Glad He Lost'

Post by as1079 Sat 12 May 2012, 5:30 pm

When Erik Morales was defeated by Danny Garcia, back in March, the majority of boxing fans will have been somewhat happy to have seen him lose, simply because of the fact that no-one wants to see legends like Morales getting seriously hurt in the ring. I think we all share a similar feeling with the likes of Roy Jones Jr, Holyfield, etc.

Can you think of any other instances where you've felt happy about a ring legend losing because you didn't want to see them take serious punishment?

Incidentally, I hear Herbie Hide is planning another comeback!

Jones just keeps on losing so I'd be much happier if he doesn't step in the ring again.

Hide should fight Chisora. Can you imagine the build up to that?

I'd like to see RJJ get comprehensively outboxed by a nobody. That way he doesn't get hurt too badly but perhaps realises his day has long since gone.

While we're on the subject of comebacks, I read recently that Razor Ruddock is planning a comeback and is intent on helping himself to "two helpings of chicken kiev." Another one short of a pound or two then...

At his prime he wouldn't have beaten either of them.

Iron Mike. Obviously went on too long anyway, but who knows how long he'd have gone on if he'd beaten McBride?

Although perhaps not quite a legend, Shane Mosley is certainly a future Hall of Famer. While he certainly appeared in better shape against Canelo than in his previous couple of outings, he really did take something of a beating. In his post fight interview he seemed a little more reflective than usual and for me showed signs that the penny may have dropped in terms of what is left for him to achieve in the sport. I hope that's the last we see of him, and that he leaves the sport with his faculties in tact.

Loved it when Froch lost to Kessler. Was even funnier when he gave the "2 warriors fought but I was robbed bla bla". More of the same from Bute hopefully

Ivan Caleron is still going I wish he would pack it in. He's one of the most gifted fighters of my lifetime and easily one of the greatest small men of all time.

The 2nd Segura fight proved he had nothing left and if he hadn't of gave up he would have been badly hurt. I would like to see him comfortably out boxed over 12 rounds but I don't think it will happen. I think he might end up fighting Segura again.
