Froch v Bute - Early Thoughts
First topic message reminder :
Sod it, I know it is almost two weeks out and I am always the one going on about Froch (saves Steffan pointing it out ) , but the board is quiet and this is a BIG fight.
How is this going to go?
Personally I feel it is a pick em. Here is why.
Froch is slower, older and has less power. But, he has home support, is hungry for victory and will look to take Bute out of his comfort zone in Notts.
For me it will come down to two main factors. How Bute reacts to a hostile enviroment and whether Froch can get Bute to engage in "his kind of fight". Froch will no doubt have to eat some shots but when Bute is hit he wants to engage and I think if he does that it may become a battle of chins, which Froch should win.
Bute has also had a foot infection which may play a factor.
My head says Bute points, but my heart says Froch.
I'm going with my heart.

Re: Froch v Bute - Early Thoughts
I am actually going to go completely against all logic here and I think Froch catches him early and in a complete surprise, he KOs Bute in the 4th.
I know, I know, I can dream... Just out of interest as I can't look it up at work, when was the last time Froch knocked anyone out? Was it Taylor??

You can't knock Butes record, but I think everyone's wondering how good he is.
I hope Froch pulls it off,but Froch tends to let early rounds pass him by, a bit like Howard Eastman in that respect, so will need to start quicker and I think he will.
Disagree with people fancying a late Bute stoppage,Froch always looks pretty strong in the latter part of a fight and we all know how good his chin is.
I'm going for Froch to be lifted by the crowd and taking a S/D.

Re: Froch v Bute - Early Thoughts
Froch can't shorten his punches to fight effectively inside and when fighters like Ward got up close, Froch's punches sailed high wide and handsome. Froch said there were things to learn from the Ward fight....being able to fight effectively on the inside is perhaps the main one. Sadly, "old dog new tricks" I'm afraid. Froch's style is far too ingrained in him for effective change to be made at this stage of his career. When the going gets tough he'll revert type and eat shots all night long.
Carl will keep trying as always but unless he finds a fluke shot, Bute will make him look very ordinary (the judges will try and keep it respectabe on the night though)

Sneaky feeling Froch KO8 - Bute has had training disruptions, injuries and infection. Froch might be able to pull it off. Otherwise Conventional view and Bute wins a comfortable UD with one or two tight moments.

What excuse will Froch give when he loses?

His mind was disrupted by the news that Lamont Petersen was a drugs cheat?
