Re: Grant Holt hands in transfer request
Maybe Reading or West Ham/Blackpool?
Can't see anyone above Norwich going for him

Re: Grant Holt hands in transfer request
He's been at Norwich for a few years now, the least he can do is get them a few million and try his luck at a higher placed team, still I wasn't expecting that.

Not West Ham!
We have too many forwards as it is. Good as Holt is, there is no room for him, we have more pressing needs I think.

Re: Grant Holt hands in transfer request
Absolutely shocked at this! Basically he's read all the media hype about him claiming he's good enough for England and it's gone to his head, silly boy! Basically no team in the top half of the prem would touch him. Too old and basically this is his agent trying to force a move for higher wages or see out your career at Norwich.
Shocker this story.

Maybe Swansea - they could do with a reliable goalscorer (or am I being harsh on Graham?)

But where? Villa are going for Solskjaer, Liverpool for many (Lambert is 25/1) and WBA haven't been linked at all

Re: Grant Holt hands in transfer request
Holt isn't the type of player thats made of glass I don't think his age would put too many suitors off, what would put them off is his defensive side, he can play atleast till late 30s at this level imo. Yes, I am finally praising a Norwich player, lol.

We can't afford to sign Owen. We couldn't cover the cost of his zimmerframe!

Then we don't need Grant Holt.
By the sounds of it, we'll need a new keeper, and I think we need to strengthen at the back.

Holt is quite tall no?
Stoke can offer a bit better wages than Norwich, and we know how they lust for tall powerful boys.

Re: Grant Holt hands in transfer request
lets be honest he'd have been on very low wages (for a footballer) most of his career, and i cant think he's on an awful lot now. i imagine he wants to move to get his only big wage packet of his career. and thats fair enough imo. he shouldnt expect clubs like liverpool or villa to come calling though, he can only go sideays at best! plus, who wants to live in norwich?! i live in lincoln and its isolated enough here

Holt is only 6ft so he misses Stoke's 6ft 2in measurement requirement!

He is an English Striker, one fairly good season, tall and physical player. Expect Liverpool to bid £35m for Grant Holt

My sister used to live there. Very rugged from what I can remember. The first question in the pub quiz was: What are you looking at?

Re: Grant Holt hands in transfer request
Holt's agent must have told him that other clubs, who can pay more, are after him. It could also be a bargaining ploy for a pay rise - he has done exceptionally well this season and perhaps would be hoping for a substantial pay-rise.

can only be a pay rise, this one season could now set him up for life

Micheal Ricketts (remember him?) did well in his first season in the PL and look what happened to him. Sometimes the grass isn't always greener.

Re: Grant Holt hands in transfer request
someones obviously been in his ear promising him more money at a bigger club, with heskey gone, and bent seemingly always rumoured to be sold, i wouldnt be surprised if villa see him as a pretty cheap replacement

There must be something going on behind the scenes. He comes across as a nice down to earth bloke so something must have happened.

He was on Radio Norfolk this morning with Adam Drury in great spirits talking about the testimonial on Tuesday! WHAT HAS HAPPENED TODAY?
