Is CM Punk a hypocrite?
CM Punk went out of his way the other week to become embroiled in a tweet war with Chris Brown, for those of you unaware of who Chris Brown is then he's an American singer/rapper that was previously in a relationship with Rihanna and became heavily known for domestic abusing her which ended the relationship.
CM Punk decided that this guy was worthy of getting a Twitter pipebomb (over 2 years after the event too) and the pair of them went back and too in a flamewar on each other where Punk attacked him over his relationships.
Now yes that's a noble and right cause, one that I very much agree with.
Yet who is CM Punk bestest buds with on Twitter, who does he constantly push to have a match with at Mania?
Stone Cold Steve Austin.
A man found guilty of domestic abuse, who police had to come his home and found his ex wife with a bloody nose and bruises and after their divorce Debra auctioned her wedding ring on ebay and gave a portion of the proceeds to a domestic abuse charity.
Just the other week Punk told a guy on Twitter to 'kill himself' due to disagreeing with Punk over gay marriage, yet again though Punk was filmed calling someone a 'homo' at a house show in Australia.
Does Punk need to rein it in and think before tweeting?

Re: Is CM Punk a hypocrite?
Let me address your concerns one by one:
- It's quite possible that Rihanna is getting back together with Chris Brown. So I think Punk, like many others, feels that she is setting a bad example for other victims of domestic violence.
- A lot of WWE athletes have criminal records, so it would be hard for Punk to build a decent feud if he also had to take the opponent's background into consideration.
- About that Twitter rant, Punk did apologize to that guy so they're both cool now.
- 'Homo' is short for homosexual. It's not a slur. In a sense, we're all homos, homo sapiens that is. There is a difference between calling gays homosexuals and disagreeing with gay marriage.

Of course he's a hypocrite.
He's also becoming a watered down version of his old self. I could have swore I heard him spout the words "Superstars" and "WWE Universe" in a promo the other night with John Laurinaitis. Phrases he so loathed not that long ago...

yeah Punk has seemingly handed his gonads over to the WWE for a long title reign
his shoot promo could now certainly be applied to himself, he needs to get that edgy side back as he seems to be losing support - his match at OTL may change things; yet he had decent matches with y2j and that didn't!

I think this may be the single best thing anyone's ever written. Ever. Eat your heart out Professor Richard Dawkins!

Of course Punk is a hypocrite, at the end of the day his job is to make money for WWE and himself. I'm fairly sure he was leaving with the WWE title last year only to return a week later, he said he wanted a different belt design but he still has the spinner, etc. Basically Vince hooked you back in for a few more years, just when you were thinking of turning away.
Now don't get me wrong he's a good talker and a great wrestler. In a way though he doesn't appeal to the mainstream audience. Women, kids and casual fans cheer for him just becuase he's a good guy not because of his promos or matches. And while great indy matches at PPVs with Bryan are good to watch this is WWE not ROH or wherever. Ok so Kevin Nash, some poor creative booking and Del Rios credibility being destroyed haven't helped, while the build up to Wrestlemania with Jericho was worse than Extreme Rules build up.
The wheel of momentum is definitely slowing down now, and it now feels like Punk is just getting ready to drop the title, possibly to a returning Barrett. Which would open up various new fueds, so long as its not an awful one with Tensai or Show. Its certainly been an entertaining year all round but it can't last forever.
He can do what he likes on Twitter, its his account to say what he wants. So long as it doesn't get him in hot water too much.

I cheer for Punk because he is brilliant, in both his matches and promo's not because he is a "good guy". I like who I like regardless of whether they are heel or face
Re: Is CM Punk a hypocrite?
I think each and every one of us will contradict ourselves at some point in our lives, it would be near impossible not to. CM Punk is in the public eye, so everything he says will be scrutinised to the nth degree but in the end he's no different to anyone else.

To this day I still wonder what might have been if Punk had stayed off TV for two or three months and continued his viral campaign as the "Real WWE champion".

Wouldn't that have been great, to have actually turned up at a ROH event or something and just sat front row with the belt around his waist.

Could've been alot better than it was. Going on chat show's, appearing on tv shows that are unaffiliated with WWE.
Imagine The Miz or someone doing an interview on Sky Sports News and Punk just walks in with the WWE Title.
