Rock has to be number 1, greatest talker on a mic for me. One of the few, if only guy who can do it incredibly well on the mic as a heel or as a face.

Re: Top 25 WWE Masters of the Mic
I have a few issues straight off the bat, Cena ahead of Dusty Rhodes?? Rhodes despite his popularity at the time of his peek was still IMO criminally under rated and under used, I honestly believe that with a little bit of luck and belief he could have been 'the man' of his generation. His promos were and still are some of the best ever produced and John Cena with his smirking, grinning, cringe worthy mic work will never hold a patch on the hard times promo.
Triple H and Vince??? Top 25??? I can't ever recall a promo delivered by either that created any emotional buy in or overwhelming pressence on the mic- token gesture to include the chairman and CCO IMO.
Santino? Sure he works the comedy angle well but does that qualify for a top 25 master of the mic position? No!

Because no matter how batpoop crazy his promos were, you couldnt take your eyes off him. He didnt have to be witty or funny - he was just intense like no other

Agreed he was incredibly watchable and had a passion in the ring, on the mic and on the way to the ring that has rarely been equalled. If you were a kid when warrior was in his prime you just got it...its hard to articulate what the 'it' was but he was a true icon of the industry, I don't beleive his in ring skills were as bad as many critics have stated but whatever you think of the man the character was an all time great. I hope that he and vince can squash their issues so that one day he can be inducted into the hall of fame.

i agree with the majority that The Rock should be no1.
Think Shawn Michaels deserves to be on the list, and Kane as well.

For sheer entertainment and hilarity Scott Steiner should be in there!

Re: Top 25 WWE Masters of the Mic
Roddy Piper was reportedly upset at being number 2 on this list, believing himself to be nailed on number 1. CM Punk backed that up too.
McMahon and Cena are too high for me, both deserve to be on probably, but in the lower reaches of the list.

I can only presume Flair is on for his early stuff, I can't understand a word he says these days!
Also suprised no Jimmy Hart on there.

Re: Top 25 WWE Masters of the Mic
The list is a joke.
No Shawn, Vince should be higher imo (greatest heel of all time as far as I'm concerned) Rock and Piper should be the top two, Cena should be no where near the top 10 as more often than not he is so stale on the stick, Hogan, trips, Vince, Rhodes, Heenan and Punk are all streaks ahead of him (not saying he isn't capable of deserving that position, just not right now). Also no mouth of the south? Come on WWE if you are going to do these lists then stop putting in people like The Miz and Cena in your list at the expense of someone worthy just because they are an active wrestler.
Happy to see JBL sneak into the top 10 though.

Have to disagree about Triple H. I think he should be higher on the list. I find him very watchable when he talks, face or heel. Always shows intensity, is believable, and captures the attention of the crowd when he talks.
I'm suprised The Undertaker isnt on the list. Would also expect Christian and maybe Bret Hart to feature.
I like how Randy Orton isnt on there though, just shows how much they rate him on the stick!
In 10 years time, Dean Ambrose and Wade Barrett will be on that list.

My one question is how the hell is Ted DiBiase so low down, that man was arguablly the best the heel of the 80s and who's mic skills were second to probably only Piper at that time.

I think perhaps the problem with Triple H's promos are that none are particularly memorable. He's always good, but never great I think.

You could say the same for half the guys ahead of Triple H in the list to be fair.

Re: Top 25 WWE Masters of the Mic
Triple H's work in the builds to his two Undertaker matches has been nothing short of brilliant.
Granted its mostly him putting himself over, but it sold the impact of the matches.

His heel persona during the Attitude years was a great foil for the likes of Austin and Rock, DX v Nation and his stuff with Austin when Austin came back from the carcrash was great stuff.

Re: Top 25 WWE Masters of the Mic
Triple H is/was in his prime fantastic on the stick, definitely deserves to be much higher.
Fantastic in his feud with McMahon 1st interrupting the wedding with Steph & Vince & subsequent work as part of the McMahon-Hemsley regime.
Remember this one?....'It was me all along Austin, now you know you dumb son of a bitch' promting JR to call him a 'Bar Steward!'
His promo he cut when he formed Evolution was pure class
His work with Taker over the last couple of manias on the mic has been awesome.
Again these list baffle me though who's involved in putting them together? Savage should be higher, Warrior should be there & Michaels??? Watch his clips from late 97 & you'll understand...
I'll go with
1. Piper
2. Rock
3. Hogan
4. Austin
5. Jake
6. Savage
7. Warrior
8. Rhodes
9. HBK
10. Triple H

Re: Top 25 WWE Masters of the Mic
I'm struggling to shake off my interest in Pro Wrestling. Have curiously followed from afar.... Following Lesnars return have put Raw back on my planner but continue to skip through most of it continuously shaking my head at some of the stuff on offer.
The best thing I've seen recently was Big Show's promo last week. Although this came a week too late & I'd sooner see Showmiz back in the tag team ranks at the minute to bring back both guys to the levels they should be. He shouldn't be in the main event & having Miz jobbing to Clay is crazy.
It continues to be 'The John Cena show' which really dilutes the Champions when they are perceived less important than anything Cena is doing. Cena vs Big Jonny as the main event of Punk vs Bryan???

Re: Top 25 WWE Masters of the Mic
Raw is the John Cena show, ive said previously that raw just follows john Cena's journey and when such time he decides to go for the title again, will be the the time when the title becomes the focus again which is a shame considering the job Punk is doing and the matches he is having.
