Cleverly's next opponent
Apparently Cleverly is looking to rematch Bellew for his next title defence, with Dawson tied up it makes sense. He demanded that Frank Warren arrange the matchup, he wrote this on twitter 'Spoke to my promoter this morning .... have asked him to make the Bellew fight .... lets do this!'
Should be another cracker much like the first one was.
Personally I would like Bellew to get more experience before making the jump, but he proved he can handle himself.
I am a fan of Cleverly, but also a fan of Bellew as well, his reaction to Froch winning was amazing!
Thoughts?

He obviously didn't like the look of Krasniqi.
Isn't Sukhotsky still his mandatory?
He's beaten Bellew, why go again?

Man...Clev won. But he didnt beat himUnion Cane wrote:He's beaten Bellew, why go again?
Plus Clev has had hate mails saying stuff like:
"You didn't beat nobody and anybody who knows boxing knows the fight was fixed"
"You call yourself the champ? You're a fake"
Even I sent him one saying "How much did you get to carry that bum for 12 rounds? You are a disgrace to your people"
I guess he wants to put the record straight

Bellew is leaving Warren for Matchroom. So count that Clev rematch OUT.

I didn't realise that WBA champ Shumenov has only had 13 fights, why aren't they busting their balls to get that fight made?

No im actually serious. What was the point in starting this article Union? All thats gonna happen is the usual gang are gonna plough in with 'Clev only fights nurses and binmen'. The more level headed people are gonna come in with 'Clevs ok he just needs to up his opposition' and 20-30 posts later we have gone over all the same ground that we were 6 weeks ago. Waste of time

Here's an idea though, don't look at it again, and after the same old same old has been said it will plummet down the page.

Tbh I would always watch these two scrap but its not going to tell us anything that we dont already know.
How hes getting away with so many voluntary defenses is up for debate but lets face it, the guy is fighting at a level that is embarrassing for a supposed world champion.

For the record:
a) I dont own a dog as I dont like pets
b) If Clev tried it on with my girlfriend I would bust him up real bad (but cheer him on next fight )

But it was good that Nurse Karpency was able to tend to his own injuries after the fight though. Two birds with one stone and all that.

Why? Clev's hardly proved himself to be world class. Bellew gassed in the final two rounds otherwise he'd be World Champion today and he'd be the one banging down doors to fight a genuine world class fighter. Bellew has matured a great deal since that fight with Cleverley and if he works on his conditioning, I'd look to him going one better this time around. He outjabbed Cleverley for most of that fight and with improved tactics I can see him winning a decision.
No real dislike for Cleverley, he's a nice lad but he's failed to set the world alight despite having a World Title and arguably one of the savviest promotors around at the minute. One has to think that if Bellew DOES go with Matchroom, Eddie Hearn will secure some big fights as he doesn't appear to be afraid to stick his neck out.

I agree Bellew can win Dave and as I said I'd like him to for all those reasons if this fight went ahead, but if Clev doesn't fight Bellew then I'm willing to give the guy a chance if he does fight a genuine World Level fighter, or at least his damn Mandatory....

That's a bloody big "IF" with Warren at the helm. Given the uproar over Haye/Chisora, I think Frank's gonna have justification for stiffing most of his fighters in the coming months citing the BBBC's draconian attitude towards him.

Equally I think there's a case to be made that Clev (having seen Bellew getting dropped by a low-rank fighter so easily in his previous fights and otherwise just drop nobodies [despite a stellar amatuer career]) may have underestimated Bellew and will be better second time round.
Looking forward to this fight, if it gets made, then a mandatory defence v Sukhotsky followed by a title fight with Shumenov would be great.

Re: Cleverly's next opponent
It's the suggestion that he has asked for this fight only because Dawson is otherwise occupied that makes me laugh. Everyone including Clev knows that he doesn't even make the long list of fighters that Dawson wants to fight and it isn't because of ducking. Dawson is just realistic that no one state side would want to see this fight.
Okay, take on Bellew, but I would have preferred him to take on his mandatory or Shumenov for the next fight. At least that would shut up the nay sayers like me!! Plus I do not think either are beyond the lad so why go backwards.

Re: Cleverly's next opponent
I don't actually mind this match up but WHY now
I personally had it a draw but couldn't see bellew winning enough rounds to nick it whereas clev had a good chance which he did.
Bellew was suppose to be the guy you beat before stepping up to world-level, eg a good defence before getting in against better opposition
He should have rematched him straight away, not wasting time vs karpency where e learnt NOTHING but how to hit a heavy bag.
Bellew outboxed clev last time but doesn't have the stamina to keep up, clev UD although I hear bellew left frank, is it true?

In what Universe? Cleverley does not deserve the fight yet and has no chance of getting it. Fight his mandatory or Shumenov for another belt and then take it from there.

Re: Cleverly's next opponent
I agree with Union and bhb001. There is no point in going back to fight Bellew. Beat him the first time round and it wasn't an easy fight so what have you got to gain by going back? Beat him again (regardless of how entertaining it will be) but it was expected after the first fight. Lose to him and then you're back to Sq1.
It doesn't make sense. Shumenov was the fight to be made but clearly they don't want to put him in with him.

Bellew reminds me of the school bully. When Clev offered to take him outside though he made a fuss knowing there was security and cameras around etc. That got him the fight. Id be happy for Clev to fight him though just to give him a proper beating this time. Bellew deserves it
