The 31 Fights Question
First topic message reminder :
Okay, bare in mind how late Froch turned bro.
Right, take Froch's 31 fights and consider the amount of top level opponents, think of it in ratio terms, not age. Now, take any other pro fighter active today, look at their first 31 fights, and tell me they have fought at the same level? Tell me they put it on the line, left their backyard, won, fought varied talent or elite skill like Frochy?
Froch is number one in the world on that list, right?

Re: The 31 Fights Question
It's an indicator that they might go on to win a pro title, generally speaking the majority of multiple olympic gold medalists are amateur specialists who did not go on to fight in the pro ranks, the difference has been further highlighted by the vast difference in current amateur and profressional boxing.

Did you really feel the need to write the above? If you aren't informing me of obscure fact's then you are stating the insultingly obvious.
While the egg heads on TV may be knowledgable their intelligence can not be assumed. While your boxing knowledge is undoubtedly vast your ring intelligence can not be assumed.
Did you really feel the need to tell me that "the difference has been further highlighted by the vast difference in current amateur and profressional boxing".
What does this mean anyway? It's like saying the difference between hot and cold is the difference between hot and cold. For now..... pooooof! I am GONE!!

I think he was referring to the fact that headguards are now worn, the way the score the fight with regards to how the punch lands/part of the glove as opposed to how hard or its effect, as somebody mentioned in an earlier post.
The other point I think he was trying to make was that a lot of these Cuban's are 'pro' amateurs that refine their technique, skills & tournament game over a long period with no intention of going professional. As somebody mentioned earlier, the guys that are competing in their 3rd Olympics are very experienced fighters with several hundred fights under their belt & probably stronger at the weight. Khan fought a guy that was around 30 in the final, whose to say had he decided not to turn pro he would not of equaled some of these Cuban greats. I don't think he was trying to insult you.

Re: The 31 Fights Question
Sorry, on topic.....from 31 fights, Froch has fought 6 times on the road, three of which were in a neutral venue and three of which were in an opponents home country. From the three times he fought in an opponents home country, twice he was beat.
Fighting an American in America certainly confers an advantage though the magnitude of the advantage can vary. For instance, Froch vs Ward took place in New Jersey....England is around 3400miles from the USA, while California (where Ward fights out of) is 2800 miles from New Jersey. The distances are huge, and both sets of home 'town' fans require longish haul flights.
Froch is undoubtedly a boxer of great magnitude. A true warrior and one of Englands finest. However, the fact remains he has a 2-1 loss record when fighting in an opponents home country. Therefore, the greatest in the travelling stakes is too high an accolade. I'm unable to provide a name to fulfill the "No 1 travelling fighter vacancy" but I'm sure others WILL be able too, especially when you consider great Peuto Ricans, Mexicans, Filipino's (etc) fighting in America
