Johnny Nelson always pops up on these lists, ha.
Not my top ten but Ihate the style of fighting being popularized by the likes of Carlos Molina and Andre Ward. Whent he going gets tough, the tough get grappling. Hit hold, head, hold, walk to the ropes arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Truss mate I thought you would have had at least 1 Klitschko on it. I'm surprised to see Wright and Sweet Pea on it mind you.

Top of my list he makes Nelson look like Aaron Pryor. He is a bell-end as well.

Has John Ruiz ever been in a fight that wasn't a stinker ? B-Hop's track record isn't much better.

Ruiz is a good shout disagree with Hopkins though.
People sometimes forget that hes in his 40s and will do whatever he thinks is necessary to win at this stage. If being cagey and spoiling is whats necessary then thats what hes going to do. He wasn't always like that. I find him intriguing to watch and hes had some masterful performances. Watching him dominate Trinidad, Tarver, Glen Johnson and Pavlik is anything but boring.

Never mind Hopkins - his fallen foe Tarver must be a better option. Jones I & III, Woods, Muriqi etc - some truly awful bouts.
In particularly, Jones-Tarver I must rank as one of the worst Light-Heavyweight title fights I've ever seen. A stinker of the highest order.

It would seem Truss has made an oversight as I don't see Haye's name on the list............. but then again maybe he "wasn't good enough to go on the list.."

I may be way wide of the mark here and I can't confess to have seen all of his fights but whenever I watched Howard Eastman he totally bored the hell out of me.

Got to agree with Johnny Nelson being high on the list.
How about Matthew Barney always seemed to be very negative IMO.
On the subject of negative styles I recall Pat Barrett losing a World Title fight to Manning Galloway who virtually threw himself to the floor to avoid taking shots.

Just seems a bizarre choice when you consider he's been put up against the likes of Nelson and Witter. Why not pick Tony Oakley or Ensley Bingham? What about Anthony Darnell? What about Roy Jones Int who treated us to some of the most dire World title fights? Woods was a good honest pro who never claimed to be the best in the World. Just think Steffy is being a tad harshSugarRayRussell (PBK) wrote:DAVE667 wrote:Whereas his fights with Hoye and Gonzalez were crackers so it might be prudent for you to think before you speak Steffan....wait, what am I saying?Steffan wrote:Agree. Everyone likes different styles. Truss had Pernell Whitaker on his list. I would rather watch Sweet P in his prime schooling good fighters than the Gatti vs Ward trilogy. A lot of people would have the Klitschkos on their list but I enjoy watching them. Maybe I'm just a bit weird but I would rather watch one guy who is special school a good fighter than watch 2 average fighters slug it out with very little skill involved.

Re: The top 10 stinkers it's been my displeasure to watch!!!
Are you saying Woods wasn't skilled? He may not have been setting the World alight but he had very sound fundamentals and held a genuine World Strap. He faced RJJ in his prime and went six rounds with him. He fought Glen Johnson three times back when Johnson was still regarded as a damned good fighter and his loss to Tarver was due to him having hepatitisSugarRayRussell (PBK) wrote:DAVE667 wrote:Just seems a bizarre choice when you consider he's been put up against the likes of Nelson and Witter. I wasn't saying Woods wasn't skilled he clearly was but not in a way that entertains. Like Johnny Nelson he did the best with what he had. I wouldn't have backed him to beat Tarver even if he had no health issues.
Everyone likes different styles someone else mentioned B-Hop would be on their list. I love watching B-Hop don't me wrong he's been in a few stinkers but imo he has performances that more than make up for it. Against Trinidad and Pavlik he was outstanding and it entertained me.

What about skilled fighters slugging it out like Morales and Barrera or Vasquez and Marquez? Do you prefer watching Sweet pea or the Klitschkos to fights like that?

Barrera vs Morales trilogy every time. Vazquez vs Marquez was fantastic as well. It's not the same as watching Micky Ward scrap with everyone because it was all he could do. These guys are top class fighters and can do so much more than just tough it out.

Cool. So you don't mind a good slugfest as long as theres a bit of skill involved rather than 2 lads wind milling each other.

Tarver's a decent shout. In the 5th of his 'fight' with Kayode and I've seen enough and, as I write this, the boos are starting. It's like watching jelly set.

I've been saying for ages that the Gatti and Ward fights aren't the fights you want to show a casual fan, it was one fairly good fighter and one average fighter going hell for leather, no technical ability seen at all.
Barrera vs Morales
Marquez vs Vazquez
Castillo vs Corrales
Now they are top draw fights with thrill a minute excitement, you get the slugging but it's done with sublime technical ability, Castillos body work against Corrales was first draw.

Early on I vaguely remember thinking he was an exciting fighter, then something happened.... I think he began to share a ring with people who could fight.
Worst fight ever has to be Lewis Vs Akinwande
