Skelton v Sprott. Remember watching it in a hotel room and thought it was awful. It made me yearn for Big Brother, a programme I detest.

Nardiello vs Malinga also sticks badly in the memory given it was a world title fight. Both men seemed to want to lose the fight. Nardiello was only slightly less bad than Malinga.

I tried to stick to title fights as you'd think being that standard they'd no better..
You're right though....those fights stunk.....Skelton, Sprott, Williams and Audley what a stinking bunch.

Excellent shout. Without a doubt the worst fight I've stayed up late to watch. I was still at school back then - and my Dad was so bored he went to wash up rather than watch 10 further rounds. Meanwhile I waited, convinced something was about to happen and increasingly confused as to why - it didn't. In fact - all of the domestic fights in those days of yore - between Gammer, Sprott, Skelton, Williams and McDermott - they were mostly terrifyingly, stultifyingly boring.

Apologies Truss - didn't realise we were only doing titles.
Floyd-Baldy was pretty dull.
Ibragimov - Wlad was, in my opinion the most boring Heavyweight unification fight in history. I challenge anyone to come up with a worse fight.

Got to agree with Skelton Sprott, was worse than watching a Hollyoaks omnibus. Did anyone catch Haskins Broadhurst a couple of years ago, anyone who did will not forget that in a hurry, no matter how hard they try.

Pacquiao v Clottey
Pacquiao v Mosely
Haye v Harrison
Froch v Dirrell
I can't think of any others, but those are fights that I questioned my love of the sport for.

Fond memories of the Hollyoaks omnibus on a Sunday afternoon many years back. Used to help me with my inevitable hangover. I never followed the stroylines though.

Calzaghe Starie was pretty awful. I was there, really hurt Joe that one, was on a Tyson bill and a big opportunity to raise his profile, am pretty sure anyone who saw that one was in no hurry to watch him again.

At least in Hollyoaks you can pretend your still young enough do some damage to the female half of the cast....
Bugner vs Frazier sticks in the mind...Marvis that is....and Tillis vs Shavers!!!

if you're talking big fights... you'd do well to out bore haye v wlad. If it wasn't for the glimmer of anticipation that haye's 1 punch a round might land, and it became increasingly obvious it wouldn't, there was zero in way of action, entertainment or excitement

Can I include a British title fight? Paul Smith v Tony Quigley. Bloody awful and Quigley appeared to believe that turning up and smothering Smith with his moobs was the way to win the title. Smith did try to fight but unfortunately lacked the ability.

If we're talking about world title bouts, then Mike McCallum versus Sean Mannion was just about as dour as it gets. Gave very little indication of the glorious 154 lb reign which 'The Bodysnatcher' was about to have.
But I'd agree that, on the domestic front, Sprott-Skelton takes some beating. The fact that it was a world title eliminator simply makes it an even blacker day in boxing history.

Hence Wlad-Sultan wins out in terms of "dullness" stakes.
Johnny Ruiz' HW efforts were pretty special. For instance - Ruiz v Holyfield 2? That was a stinker.

Have got his autobiography Oxy, for such a dull fighter is a surprisingly enjoyable read.

The only thing Hopkins vs Dawson has going for it was that it was only 2 rounds, that was shaping up to be real borefest. Alexander vs Bradley is one that sticks in my mind as being a recent shocker as well.
What was the Hopkins vs Wright fight like? Can only presume its a bad one but it's one I haven't actually seen.

Re: The top 10 stinkers I've had the dis-pleasure to watch!!
The two fights recently bored me to tears.
Donaire - Narvaez, it was just virtually no action at all apart from one good flurry that Donaire landed in the 4th which made Narvaez say hell to the no I am not getting involved at ALL! It was so bad even Donaire said - I'm Bored!!!
Norton - Williams, I don't know why anyone would want to watch this fight, Norton is the most boring fighter to have lived and Williams, well he's a try-hard to be fair, but was just utterly utterly confused for the entire fight. I was just screaming throw a bloody punch. Made Haye - Harrison look like a FOTY contender.
I think you could throw almost every Audley fight in the mix.
Nearly all Johnny Nelson fights.
Cintron - Williams. Stayed up until 5.30 am to watch it thinking oh my goodness rubbing my hands at two big knockout guys going at each other only for Cintron and Williams decide to not throw a punch in fear of getting caught then Cintron falling out of the ring and couldn't continue.
alex Arthur - Gobaldaze (sp?) I think this was for a title, I can't stand watching Arthur fight anyway, but this nearly killed me.
Enzo Mac - Braithewaite, Two big punchers not really landing, to be fair not awful but it was pretty boring.
Bradley - Alexander, I mean this was possibly one of the worst fights I had gotten excited about ever, the fact it almost went twelve, was stopped because Alexander didn't like a bit of blood, or throwing punches and Bradley just kept running in head first into Alexander, it was just AWFUL!

Was Malinga ever in a decent fight? I was delighted when Jones Jr sparked him because I thought he'd retire, but he carried on sucking the life out of opponents.
He managed to make hoodwink Benn into a borefest, and his fight against Reid was atrocious.

Malinga v Robin Reid the fight where Reid decided he didn't want to risk been hit as Jim Watt put it.
Johnny Nelson against anyone, always hoped someone would knock him spark out before he retired.
I hated watching Pat Cowdell fight effective but awful to watch.

You must have loved watching him get sparked by Nelson then.

Benn always seemed to struggle against awkward opponents and yesm, Benn for my money clearly lost the first fight against Malinga, which as I remember, was a pretty boring fight as well actually.

I thought Sanchez would batter him but his style made him hard to hit, watched the fight against Azumah live on the box, and Cowdell decides to be the aggressor bit like a peashooter going up against a cannon, had to watch the replay to see the punch connect very quick and destructive.AlexHuckerby wrote:Nico the gman wrote:Malinga v Robin Reid the fight where Reid decided he didn't want to risk been hit as Jim Watt put it.
