Re: Try scoring by International Teams
Well when you look at SA, OZ and NZ who play half their games against each other it is clear to see SA is the most conservative, although by those margins not as much as I thought.
New Zealand 72% 0%
Australia 73% 12%
South Africa 62% 17%
New Zealand 72% 0%
Australia 73% 12%
South Africa 62% 17%

There has been talk about Scotland being able to get into an arm wrestle and with 53% of matches being tryless it backs it up or shows that the defense of scotland is immense.

apologies Brendan, I did not make it clear. Those are not tryless matches - but pecentage of matches in which that team was tryless.

Brendan that's the positive way at looking at Scotland's absolutely horrific try scoring record.
Scotland - wet weather specialists, very strong pack, can't score tries.backline still ineffectual.

Re: Try scoring by International Teams
So tryless means that the team with the percentage did not score, not both teams?
That is a horrific stat for Scotland, but i'm quietly pleased by Englands stat.
Amazed by NZ though, can any one remember the last match that they did not score a try in?

At a guess, I’d say it was the 12-6 win over Australia in 2002?

Re: Try scoring by International Teams
That's not a bad stat then is it? Three tryless matches in two decades ('95 v SA and '02 v Oz).

We also beat the Boks 15-11 in 96 at ChCh, first meeting since the WC final, again no tries scored that day. In fact, it took us until late into the away leg match to get a try against SA

Many ABs touched down that day Biltong. Touched down the previous night's meal.

I thought the All Blacks didn't score a try in the 2015 final against Wales! :

That was a belly flop, he was trying to seal the ball off in the ruck, but didn't realise he was over the line.aucklandlaurie wrote:RubyGuby wrote:I thought the All Blacks didn't score a try in the 2011 final!

That's a very good point Laurie, very good indeed - I think it was a meat pie

That Woodcock try was the cake and Beaver provided the icing and cherry on the cake.

If only he knew Weepu was going to have a shocker with the boot, he would have run round closer to the posts and saved my blood pressure levels from skyrocketing.
