Genia is just standout today, miles better than any other player on the pitch, fair dos to him.

How did Davies lose that? Turnovers are really costing Wales.

Will Genia could be the difference today, laid that ball on for McCabe beautifully,

I've heard Genia's name on the radio commentary more than all the other players on the field put together...

Blimey, great try for Australia.
But all day Australia use this inside ball with player join the line at this angle. Wales should know about it before.

Higginbotham has been the 2nd best player (behind Genia) on the pitch.

Australia have chased so, SO well all day.
Wales are getting half chances but there's been some superb Australian defense going on.

ref tells pocock to leave the ball and then lets him away with stripping it on the floor. crucial turnover. game over. Wales haven't really been at the races tonight but that was poor from Joubert

Would be much happier with Liam Willaims on the bench covering full back. But that would mean no Beck on the bench. Then again Beck will presumably be starting next week anyway.

A heavily depleted side, down to their 4th choice 10, the 3rd game in a week for most, half the side were fighting off hypothermia only a few days ago, only a week together as a squad, and they still gave a lesson in attacking rugby.

too sloppy from Wales. Have had opportunites to win this match but basic errors and kicking decent ball away have given it to Australia. Fair play to Aus they've taken the chances well but poor performance from Wales.

Good entertaining match. Shame for Wales.
But the speed of this match seemed slow compared to the AB-Ire match, don't you think?

Re: Wallabies v Wales match day teams and matchday thread
now that was just mean, breaker!
oh this commentator is so full of twaddle, it's unbelievable.
anyways, game over, went pretty much how I thought it would (although I didn't think Wales would be quite that off the pace at the breakdown) very, very well played Australia, thoroughly deserved that win
Wales - need to up our fringe defence and work at the breakdown. Should be able to put out stronger forwards for the 2nd test, but our backs are starting to look a real worry.
Hopefully Georgie isn't too badly hurt but Scott didn't look good at all
I don't want Hook near this team though, I just don't trust him in a Wales shirt.

We butchered so many opportunities to win the game I don't think we will play that badly in the other two tests.
Australia did what was needed and they deserve full credit for doing that.

Doesn't seem good news for Wales when Australian players returning and get a break. Intersting see the Brumbies playrs like Hooper make the difference in final minutes.

Oh my God... glad that's over. Commiserations Wales fans.
I thought a comeback was on there around the 55th min but Oz still had a little petrol left in the tank. The pure Genius of Genia got us through in the end and Pocock led the intensity at the breakdown.
Otherwise, still too many chances put down but I'm very relieved we won.
We really need our other Reds back and a couple of Kiwis too. NZ would have punished that performance from the Wallabies, I believe.

Re: Wallabies v Wales match day teams and matchday thread
Won't be much solace to Welsh fans but that was an excellent game.
Scoreline could have been very different if Cuthbert had got the ball 2 feet in front of him instead of 2 behind when he was wide open on the right 1n his own 22 and Halfpenny had been given that breakaway ball early instead of at his knees 10 seconds later. Just a couple of simple mistakes and that makes the difference at this level.
Flawless Halfpenny goalkicking.

Ian Evans and AWJ to start next week, with Bradley on the bench - Charteris was poor today, I thought Davies looked good today though.

better numbers in the contact - yes Warbs, we could see that from the first 10 mins, why didn't we sort it out??
a 20 min performance, not enough against this Australian side, even if it was for most of the 6N's.
Lots to improve on, and in a short space of time for us.

Good game to watch, Will Genia, what a player!
Wales looked undercooked tbh, we missed a load of first up tackles so Shaun is going to be very unhappy. Priestland has to be under pressure from Hook for a start next week. Beck looked good in offence bad positioning in defence.
Even so we created oppurtunities but lacked the sharpness to finish them off,
I guess Gatland will be on the next plane after this. At least I hope so.
