Alex Goode.
The man can kick, pass, run and tackle. He has the vision of a 10, the experience at FB. He is a cracking all round rugby player and, imo, a better prospect than Billy 36 (who could do the job and is the more popular option).
Shame Sarries will never play him there.

Yes! The next in a series of steps to play an entire backline of fullbacks. Rob Miller at 10 next.
This is Tongue in cheek but the OP is a decent suggestion

Watched him for years. Overated and probably not even international quality.

Done. It's basically what Australia do anyway

Well, it would make England very good under the high ball.

No.
The best 12's are most certainly playmakers, but they also have to have a physical threat. Goode can run well with the ball, but he's not a go to physical man that an attacking FH needs outside him.
The purely playmaking 12 finally died with the end of Giteau's international career and it's now about a decade out of date.
A kicking game is the least important characteristic in a 12 if you have a decent 10 (how often do you see SBW & Nonu kick?), the rest of the characteristics are just as apparent in a 12 already in the squad, Allen (though he could do with passing it a bit more). Twelvetrees still shows the most promise for a future answer to our problems there though.
