Wales Team for the Brumbies match... Faletau out of tour with broken hand means Delve is on the Bench
First topic message reminder :
WALES: Liam Williams; Harry Robinson, Andrew Bishop, Ashley Beck, Aled Brew; James Hook, Rhys Webb; Paul James, Richard Hibbard, Rhodri Jones, Alun Wyn Jones (Captain), Luke Charteris, Josh Turnbull, Justin Tipuric, Aaron Shingler
REPLACEMENTS: Ken Owens, Rhys Gill, Ian Evans, Gareth Delve, Lloyd Williams, Rhys Priestland, Alex Cuthbert
Rob Howley says
"We are a game down, but we still have all to play for in this series and Tuesday night is the perfect opportunity for this squad of players to move on," said Wales head coach Rob Howley.
"We have one or two bumps and bruises and we are expecting players to 'back-up' after playing a tough Test match and go out there 72hrs later and play for their country.
"But that is exactly what touring is all about. It will be a test of character for the likes of Luke (Charteris), James (Hook) and Alun Wyn (Jones) who all made significant contributions on Saturday."

From the patchy reports I heard it seem reverse of the weekend, good first half less so in the 2nd.
Hook seemed to have had a good game, will it be enough to get him the nod at 10 (not XV PLEASE).

Well in the first half it sounded like we were gonna score a hatfull. Hook, Webb, Beck, Hibbard and Tipuric all showed up well.
In the second half with replacements coming on our game slacked off a bit. We needed to get another try before relaxing and that could have cost us.
Good to see Ianto get some gametime.

From one report Ive read, the ref was pretty poor. That didnt come accross in the radio stream from the ozzie commentators.

Ty,
It was a local ref so like all tours you have to expect a bit of 'homer' tnedencies.

Aye, it was more the commentators lack of interest in the liberal interpretation of the laws for one side I was alluding to

Will this go down as a famous win down-under?
How did the Bath Boy Paul James do?

Nobody seen the match HERSH. But, he has been in good form for two years. If it weren't for the world class Jenkins he would be first choice for Wales.

He is a better scrummager than Gethin, I also think he clears out at ruck time better as well, where Gethin has him beat is in the loose and at turning ball over, he will be a very good signing for Bath, he can also cover on the tight head as well, but he is nowhere near as good there as he is on the loose head.

Re: Wales Team for the Brumbies match... Faletau out of tour with broken hand means Delve is on the Bench
Just seen the highlights on www.wru.co.uk
From what i can gather
The Ospreys contingent all played well as everyone has said. Ashley Beck seems to have bulked up a bit, or maybe that's just the Wales shirt
Rhodri Jones seemed to carry the ball well, and generally got around the pitch clearing rucks and making tackles. Seems very fit for a prop as well. Although i guess that's not hard if you compare him to Adam Jones...
Liam Williams needs to get involved more, learn to run better lines, learn to kick the ball and he needs to bulk up a lot, he got smashed in contact quite easily. To me he looks like a winger playing fullback.

Re: Wales Team for the Brumbies match... Faletau out of tour with broken hand means Delve is on the Bench
Based on the highlights
Hook, Beck and Tipuric all had very good games and were central to the 3 tries
Rhys Webb had a mixed game, with some good points but a few little errors.
Despite the radio commentary, Robinson had a good game, he looked sharp and made some good runs - including almost setting up a try for Charteris - he was a bit unlucky Hook and Beck chose to go themselves or he would have had 2 chances to score in the corner.
Delve and Brew were anonyomous

Crikey! Guess Ryan Jones would be on the bench then. Giving us 6.Lydiate, 7.Tipuric, 8.Warburton, hopefully behind AWJ and Evans in the 2nd row, with Hibbard at hooker .

Re: Wales Team for the Brumbies match... Faletau out of tour with broken hand means Delve is on the Bench
I'd be gutted if I was Ryan if he's benched for Warbs. I'm not convinced by this and it strikes me of the Welsh management not being able to make a decision on whether to include one of their 'stars' and so end up just suffling them across to another position to make room for another inform player - just like what happened to Hook.
I can see why the management want Tupric in the team - he's been playing awesomely, but I'm not sure how they can say Warbs would be a better 8 than Ryan - they should just make a tough choice between Tupric and Warbs over who plays 7, and fit them in next to Lydiate and Jones.

Its the 'jackling' ability they are going for, worked well for Scotland.
What they really need is to Kick Phillips up his arse and get quick ball or just start with the inform 9 and play Webb

Re: Wales Team for the Brumbies match... Faletau out of tour with broken hand means Delve is on the Bench
If Jones comes on at 6, then that would give Wales 3 fetchers in the back-row (one of RJ's many qualities this season). I wouldn't mind seeing that start in the 3rd test.
I hope we win this 2nd test! If Aus win I would hazard a guess they rotate for the third one, with perhaps starting Beale and Cooper if they are fit. If we win I would still like to see Hibbard, AWJ, EVans, R.Jones, Webb and Beck start in the third test.
