Haka preference
First topic message reminder :
It seems that many people prefer the Ka Mate haka to Kapa O Pango. Yet the latter is the one the ABs pull out for the games they either think are special matches or opponents they respect the most.
So you might see the haka you prefer but if your team faces Ka Mate, do you see it as a slight against your team because in effect your team is not considered good enough to face Kapa O Pango?

Yeah but remember, the only reason they started doing the Haka in rugby matches was for entertainment

Re: Haka preference
exactly walesy- Haka should be performed in the hakafactor(the worlds cultural dance off inspired by xfactor with panel judges). not before a rugby match

And modern professional rugby exists because it's entertainment

Didn't know Aucklandlaurie valued the Monarcy - but it was AL who compared the Haka to the antiquated pyramids.

I agree Rodders, I say ban the blinking Tom Jones numbers before Welsh games, now that makes me cringe. I couldn't agree with getting rid of the bagpipes but we could do away with the whole Mel Gibson 'Freeeeedooooom' thing the Scottish like to perform before England matches. As for Ireland's Call.........cringe is not the word, tis awful.
As for the Haka, it is as much a part of rugby tradition as it is Maori culture. It will outlast the lot of us and love it or hate it, it'll still be enjoyed by the majority of rugby fans like myself who have grown up in awe of the All Blacks.
P.S. I do prefer the Ka Mate

Re: Haka preference
Fair enough when you put in that perspective but for the record i think the whole Irish president thing coming out to shake every single bloody players hand pointless, but that's for another thread/forum...

Johnno was able to use that to introduce a whole new level of disrespect.

Dunno if it's just me, but I quite like Ireland's Call. It's catchy and the players seem to get into it.

He walked out on to the wrong side to stand for the anthems and shake the President's hand, so basically the President had to walk on the grass when he shook their hands. Johnson refused to move because he was too "in the zone"... or so he said
