Appreciating Rocky III
Now, yes Rocky was the best film in the Rocky series of films, that isn't even in question.
However whenever the subject is brought up about Rocky everyone I know seems to go for Rocky IV as their favourite, yet Rocky III had both Hulk Hogan and Mr T.
Now it can't be just me, so this is a little thread to show some appreciation for Rocky III.

Tim Vine I wasn't trying to be, although I do find him pretty funny at times.

Rocky IV much better, some very good one liners.

Re: Appreciating Rocky III
Surely Clubber Lang Deserved a rematch after his defeat to Rocky?
If not his manager has some questions to answer, he should have put another rematch clause in the rematch.
Oh Yes its me! Hi Everybody!

"I don't hate Balboa, but I pity the fool!"
Not many people didn't realise that Mr T never said "I pity the fool" in the A-team. It was only via this film that he was famous for it.

Surely Clubber James Lang was due a rematch after his defeat to Rocky?
If not then his management are to blame, for not having a rematch clause.
Oh and yes it is me!

Welcome aboard, sheng.
Good to see you made it over. It's a great place to be, and I believe you'll enjoy it. Healthy mix of banter and boxing, with minimal WUM input.
Look forward to chewing the fat with you.

See I just don't get this. Am I alone in that I actually like this one?
Also wondering which other comedians I can be told I'm not. Or is there just a special kid in this forum that makes random comments about people not being someone who is famous (and in Time Vines case remotely famous).
Anyway, the fact that Rocky had got complacent avoiding big fights - although down to Micky and being forced to be trained from scratch by one of his old foe's, as well as Hulk Hogan and Mr T.
Although growing up the robot was very cool.

Re: Appreciating Rocky III
Rocky III is sloppily put together, especially the part during the second Lang fight where they have reversed the image to make it look like Clubber is in the left hand corner and you can clearly see "REBBULC" written on his shorts.

Drago kills his best friend and his one time rival Apollo and Rocky has to go and avenge him knowing the very same could happen to him.

Thats a fair point, but he's not wearing them earlier (or later) in the fight, he has his "CLUBBER" ones on. Are you allowed to change your shorts mid-contest?

Have never noticed that and surprisingly so as when younger I would many times just fast forward through the tape to get to the fights, really should have seen it.

It probably not against the rules.

Sorry but Rocky 1 was the best film in the franchise........
Sure 3 had more action but as a moving drama and tale the first has no equal...

Hello Truss, stick to the rules. Rocky wasn't up for debate as mentioned in the original post, this thread is about Rocky III vs Rocky IV.
Rocky was so good Stallone was nominated for a best actor oscar!!! Thats the equivalent Audley getting a shot at the heavyweight champion........oh

Re: Appreciating Rocky III
Rocky IV for me. I think it was ITV2 that had both back to back a week last saturday. Great viewing for me as the missus was out.
I did feel Ivan Drago should have held off. He clearly had the point advatage - most of the first 8 rounds I had scored 10-8 or 10-7 to him. He also had the home judges so it was a bit naive leaving himself so open at the end.

----
Not Best Actor. I think it won Best Original Screenplay and Best Film and one more, but I can't remember which.
Anyway, I'd rate Rocky III pretty lowly on my list of Rocky films. Behind 1, 2, 4 and Balboa.

Not enough experience, it was only his second pro fight. He had the crowd and the whole country to impress and they were expecting a KO.
After his win over Creed, boxing fans being what they are just began to build Drago as some kind of invincible wrecking machine, the truth is Creed was well past his prime, an old fighter and that what Drago made him look like.
Can't believe there wasn't a rematch, with Drago behind so far ahead only to lose it in the dying seconds. Good move by Balboa retiring, otherwise Drago does him in the rematch.

Re: Appreciating Rocky III
Rocky II is the best one of the series.
Followed by Rocky and Rocky Balbao.
There is a poll in the movie section somewhere...
