Harry Redknapp leaves Tottenham
Harry Redknapp has left Tottenham after almost four years in charge.
Redknapp, who was heavily linked with the England job before the Football Association opted for Roy Hodgson, had denied speculation that he had resigned on Tuesday.
The 65-year-old had a year left on his contract but reportedly failed to agree a new deal with chairman Daniel Levy.
Everton manager David Moyes is the favourite for the job but the Toffees have received no approach for the Scot. (taken from BBC)
Thoughts? Think Everton fans will be worried if Moyes' name is being mentioned as a successor?

Suprising after reading Harry's comments the other day. He's a good manager.

Re: Harry Redknapp leaves Tottenham
Apparently he wanted a long contract, while Levy was only offering him a 12 month rolling one.
I think that Moyes will go, after working so long with no money. Though if he does who he will inheret with regards the squad could be intresting.

Re: Harry Redknapp leaves Tottenham
Where will Redknapp go now though? There isn't any big jobs available, unless he goes to Everton when Moyes goes to Tottenham.
The only other possibility that springs to mind is taking over Chelsea when Di Matteo is inevitably sacked, but if he's after a long-term contract with Tottenham he's not going to move.
I think it's a poor move by Tottenham, while it was a horrible end to the season and drop in form, it was pretty obvious this was due to the speculation surrounding the England job and the psychological effects, there is no reason why Redknapp wouldn't have gone back to his better ways come the start of the season.
I think if Chelsea hadn't won the Champions League, Redknapp would probably still have a job.
It just means there is even more pressure on Tottenham now, with Bale, Modric, Van Der Vaart all possibly leaving, King has left, no Adebayor and no manager the future is looking bleaker.

Re: Harry Redknapp leaves Tottenham
I can't see Redknapp anywhere near the Everton job (if Moyes goes to Spurs) - Harry wants transfer money, and lots of it and Everton have sweet FA. I've heard that most of the disagreements and tense relationship between Harry and Levy were because Harry constantly wanted more transfer funds to improve the sqaud - he even came out and said in April(?) that the Spurs squad needed a lot more investmennt and he hadn't been given a great deal of money to work with.
I think signing Andrea Villas Boas would be good for Spurs (if he'll come), though Moyes is a very, very good manager.
As for Harry I reckon he'll take a year out, keep his repuation up by constantly appearing as a pundit and then wait for a big managerial casualty around the end of the season.

Harry Redknapp will reportedly be paid £3,000,000 in compensation by Tottenham, which after tax will equate to approximately £3,000,000.

Tottenham do have more money spend but they are not exactly a bigger club.

This is all ridiculous. Definitely "non-football reasons". You don't fire someone because they finished 4th not 3rd, when they're not even one of the "Big 4" to begin with. Ludicrous.
And I think he deserves a longer contract than one year, to not offer him it is disrespectful. He's turned Tottenham from a shower of shyte into one of the most exciting teams in the land.
Tottenham has always been run like a bunch of fiddling backstabbers, and so it continues. Nobody likes them

At face value this seems to be a foolish decision - I suppose it depends on how much they have been spending. I don't think Moyes should risk going to Spurs - it could end his career.

Re: Harry Redknapp leaves Tottenham
It has been coming all week, im not shocked that he's gone tbh, I can see the reasons why Levy would be unhappy with the second half of last season because I know I was, we had 3rd in the bag then the England Managers job came along and Harry got his head turned and our form dropped, the players didnt know if he was going or not as he wouldnt come out and say it (unlike Harry) so the great form we had before all this disappeared and in the end we came 4th.
Its hardly disrespectful to offer a manager a rolling contract, sure they do it in Spain and other European Countries, he had a year left but he wanted another 3, Levy is a hard barsteward when it comes to contract talks and I applaud him for not being held to ransom.
Personally Id like Moyes to take over but there has been a few names already thrown into the pot like Rafa, Klinsmann, Martinez, AVB and Im more excited than sad at the moment
Give it over would ya

Possibly are but Everton do have a lot of history. Not exactly a big move up the ladder like it would be to Utd or Arsenal.

Maybe they could give the job to old tottenham boy Chris Hughton, although he has already been fired from there when he was assistant manager under Martin Jol.

Moyes should sit it out at Everton until the United job comes up.
He's a shoo-in for that.

It might not be the biggest move up the ladder but its a move up from Everton and if he did move and did well then it couldnt hurt if he was in for the Utd job?

I doubt Moyes is a shoo in for the Man Utd job.
If he proves he can spend big sums wisely and potentially has some CL experience with Spurs, it helps his case more I expect.
More than anything, you get a sense that hes done as much as he can at Everton.

Not exactly a dream job. Would he leave the north west to take a gamble at Spurs? Very doubtful.

Re: Harry Redknapp leaves Tottenham
He's got a cushty job at Everton where he can only really overachieve. There's never any expectation, and if they have a bad year he can just blame investment or injury.
Spurs have set their stall that 4th is not good enough. So what's the point?
I think he can only damage his chance of the United job by moving.

gutted! next appointment is crucial. fully expect vaart, bale and modric to leave now. hopefully pienaar will get his chance now, along with livermore and i would like to see more of dos santos. honestly though, f*ck knows whats gunna happen next. but as i said the next managerial appointment is crucial to the immediate future of the club. i think adebayor is a must buy now, however that is now unlikely to happen unless ade makes the first move.
sigh :/

Yeah but he is a competitive manager who wants to do his best so why wouldnt he go to a team that has been in the top 5 at least over the last few seasons, why wouldnt he want to manage in the Champions League again this time with a good squad, I doubt he wants to sit on the Everton bench just because if he has a bad year he can blame someone else, all managers want to do well with good teams and at Everton I cant see that happening tbh

Spurs are not in the CL and tbh won't be for a while if they don't find a better replacement.

I never said they were this season, they have sacked their manager not sold their team so its not the end of the world, of course they would be looking for a better manager to bring them on again its not like they are gonna get Ian Holloway or Big Sam is it

We dont know because we have only seen him with Wigan but another few teams have wanted him so there must be something about him, but there has been bigger names mantioned as well that could do a great job at Spurs

Benitez - still highly regarded at Liverpool, winning them trophies and getting them Top 4 finishes
AVB - Great at Porto, bombed at Chelsea but still a very good manager
Klinsmann - Hero at Spurs and did wonders with the German and USA national squad
and im sure there will be more names over the coming weeks

Not sure any of them would do better, tbh. Benitez is a great tactician but has just been sacked (for football reasons).
Shame to see Harry go, as I like him. Should have got the England job but that's another story.

No, definitely not but finishing 4th is as good as it MAY get for Spurs in the near future, so I hope the board don't expect too much.

Spurs have surely got to have someone lined up!
Liverpool made that mistake in getting rid of Benitez and then pomping for Hodgson.
Am not sure what Moyes would bring to the table or even if he would leave Everton.
I expect to see a few faces to leave before the start of the season as they have now got a good excuse why they want to go.

Just to throw another name in the mix. But how about
Slaven Bilic,
Dosn't he finnish with Croatia after this tournament, so no compensation fee. Modric might stay seeing as he knows Bilic first hand, He's got a good coaching/managerial credentials. Knows London and what the press are like, and how to handle them.

I think he's already signed a deal with Lokomotiv Moscow though.
I thought he'd have been a good shout as a replacement for David Moyes after he used to play for Everton.

I'd suggest Modric is a goner and it contributed to Harry's demise.
