Gerrard out for rest of season
The England midfielder returned to training a week ago after a groin operation in early March but sustained a similar problem last Friday.
The 30-year-old has spent the week undergoing assessment and Reds manager Kenny Dalglish confirmed the worst at the club's Melwood training ground.
"We still don't know definitively what the problem is," Dalglish said.
"We will wait to get a precise answer from the people that he has to see but he won't be involved again this season."

So where does this leave Liverpool now?
With 10 points off a champions league place, this is a real blow.

GODDAM SONOFABITCH!
To be fair, whilst it's a big blow it's not as bad as it might have been in recent years, due to Gerrard's so-so form over the last 2 seasons. I think that Lucas & Meireles are capable of stepping into the void left by Gerrard, due to our defensive crisis I don't think we'll be playing 3-5-2 for a while so we won't have to worry about who to play alongside those 2. The options aren't great anyway - Poulsen, Spearing & a returning Jonjo Shelvey.

I can't see it being a major problem in our remaining games, I just hope we see him back to his best next season.

i would suggest retiring from international football but he always gets injured 2 days before and fit again 2 days after england games

Retiring from international football would do Gerrard good imo. It has gave Scholes an extra couple of years at Man Utd and gave Shearer a couple of more years with Newcastle. Liverpool should be his priority they pay his wages. Not a problem just now though because Liverpool have nothing to play for. As long as he is fit for pre season.
