***Saturday Tipping Competition - April 9th***

Well the biggest race in the world is here this Saturday and it is supported by a host of other top quality racing at Aintree. The BBC have five races from Aintree, culminating at 4.10 with the Grand National however there are plenty of superstars on show earlier in the afternoon too. Channel Four have some slightly less attractive cards in terms of quality from Lingfield & Thirsk, with three races from each including some very tricky handicaps. I'm sure most of us will be focusing on the main action at Aintree, however this week we'll open up all the TV races on both the BBC & C4 which gives everyone plenty of races to find this weeks winners. This week you'll need to make SIX selections for the races listed, One selection MUST BE IN THE GRAND NATIONAL, as usual a NAP & NEXT BEST must be selected and you can chose to have your selections WIN or EACH WAY. The rules and links to the racecards are all below -

THE RACES

Aintree - 1.45, 2,15, 2.50, 3.25 & 4.15 (The Grand National)
Lingfield - 2.00, 2.30 & 3.00
Thirsk - 2.10, 2.45 & 3.15

THE RULES

You must pick SIX selections from the ELEVEN nominated races.
One of you selections MUST BE IN THE GRAND NATIONAL
You can nominate your selection to be Win or Each Way
You must nominate a NAP which you will have 4 Points to stake on (4pts Win or 2pts ew)
You must nominate a NEXT BEST which you will have 3 Points to stake on (3pts Win or 1.5pts ew)
Your remaining four selections you will have 2 Points to stake (2pts Win or 1pt ew)
All returns will be settled at bookmakers standard terms to returned SP odds
Any Non Runners can be ammended prior to the first race going off. Any subsequent Non Runner, your stake will go on the race favourite.
The winner will be the person with the most points after the final race.

Our reigning 'Queen Of The Tipsters' for the last two weeks is Solerina who has been showing us blokes how it's done. I can report she has been 'Drug Tested' ( ) and, unlike Binocular, the results have come back clean, therefore let this weeks battle commence ...... Sorry i'm a bit late posting the results of this Saturdays results ... I know it's a little bit of 'After The Lord Mayors Show' .... Anyway, we have a tie at the top this week, Our 'Queen Of The Tipsters' has been de-throned, with congratulations going to Swanseadabber & Steve077 who both Napped a winner a piece which was good enough to take the spoils .... The final standings are -

Very poor scoring this week, a long way to go to beat Sol's fantastic points tally last week.

Once again thanks to Grahame for taking the time to run this, good on ye mate.

It is noticeable that there were only 4 entrants this week whilst 13 took up the challenge in the Grand National tipping contest.

That to me sums up the problem racing has got. It can attract people to watch a 1 off race on Saturday but I wonder how many bothered to watch the supporting races on the BBC on Saturday?

I'm so annoyed with myself!.

If I'd had Spirit of Love and Burj Alzain e/w, I'd have won but they could only manage second.....all each way bets from now on for me.

Looking forward to next week.....see if I can win back my crown!

well apart from my NAP I didn't get a lot else right!

I might do a little tipping contest for the Craven meeting this week. It doesnt get much attention these days but it is a nice start to the flat season. Also on Wednesday and Thursday I see there is a meeting at Cheltenham! which although much more low key than March will still attract a few half decent horses no doubt
