Advantage ireland, france offsie, penalty awarded, hanrahan should have no problems with this, wind is now behind him, and it is less than 40 meters.

technical error frim ireland from the kick off, bal is carried back, kicked out and called bac to inside the irish 22, maul fro the lineout by franc,e slow ball, strong defence by ireland as france don't focus on the ball, irish get out of their 22

Re: JWC: match talk and score updates.
great play from ireland, they run the ball from the back of the scrum, some interplay by the 8 and 9, only to ultmiatley lose the ball again, then france runs back, they knock on and we have another irish scrum inside the french half

Re: JWC: match talk and score updates.
hell this referee is pedantic, it takes about 2 mintes before any scrum gets a put in.
france turned the ball over, then foul play and penalty to ireland.
this should be 12-0.
And it is

Re: JWC: match talk and score updates.
ireland should use the next ten minutes to get a try, the french will not come back from that, they look flat and uninterested.
Ireland has started this half a lot better, they were under heaps of pressure in the first half.
good attack from ireland, but then they are penalised for holding on, frnace runs back and kicks out inside the irish half.

maul , ruck, french are 10 meters out, irish pressure forces a knock by the french.
shyte this is pathetic from the french.
Must say the irish pack is doin the same to france as what they did to us, numbers at the breakdwon, putting relentless pressure at the breakdown

15-7 ireland, but they immediately get an opportunity to kick at goal again.

It’s an U20’s championship.
It’s not all about who wins. It’s about development. You don’t develop many players by kicking teams out after 3 games.

When is the final by the way? Good on Ireland U20 for doing what their national team can't seem to do. This year they came close in the 6N but somehow found a way to let France back into the game. Here's hoping these U20 boys are more ruthless.

Leinster, give some of your back row players to the provinces who need them please.

Was saying to Rava last week, we’ll give you Leo Auva’a and Rhys Ruddock for Ian Henderson.

I have been very impressed by this Irish team. If they come out of this having beaten France, England and South Africa in the space of 3 weeks it is a truly outstanding set of results and will aide their development greatly.

Leonard has kicked beautifully from what I have seen.
final score 62-28
Well done.
What did you think about the rest of Leonard's game?

Give us Dominic Ryan instead and you have a deal.
Auva'a is very underrated though.

It’s a funny old tournament. We beat England and SA but we’re in the 5th/6th place playoffs. We could have been in the final had SA not got a 4th try against England. Small margins.
Still though, as you say. It’s a great achievement.

Good to know. I do like Edinburgh (if I made a ranking of teams, they'd be around 4th after Quins, Exeter, Gloucester, just ahead of Crusaders, Waratahs and, I suppose Wasps). He's also in my Fantasy team, hope he gets some game time in the RABO next year

Thanks Bil!
Between you, Thomond (on twitter) and my colleague who’s “working from home” with the match on in the background it was as good as being pitch side.
Fair play to ya

S.A. got the lucky draw in the group, they had us first up then Italy to rest players and then England. Both ourselves and England had to play 2 big games in 4 days so that made it harder.England then had to play us again soon after the S.A. game so they were wiped at that stage and we gave them a bit of a pasting.

Re: JWC: match talk and score updates.
Score update for Italy vs Fiji.
Final score; Fiji 19 Italy 17.
This means fiji qualify for next year, and Itlay doesn't

In all fairness, with the amount of Munster men on that team, I'd say they'd fit quite comfortably!!

Re: JWC: match talk and score updates.
Great to see u20 doing so well, could only get a jumpy TG4 stream at work but we were way better than the French who looked disinterested and simply gave away a load of penos for JJ to pop over. To beat France, England and SA in the space of three weeks and to miss out on the semis by a whisker and playing really good rugby is a great achievement.
Said this on previous thread, loads of these youngsters need to be given proper game time by the provinces - particulalry Scannell, Furlong, Henderson, Conan and JJ - if we are to get the best out of them in the years ahead. And that doesn't mean pissy Rabo games against bottom of the table teams, give them game time against good teams too.

Re: JWC: match talk and score updates.
Scannell will struggle to get meaningful gametime for Munster.
There are three Irish hookers ahead of him. None are interntionals. All are in their early to mid twenties.
Sherry, Varley, Fogarty, Henry.
One of them will have to move to Connacht I think to get exposure.

Re: JWC: match talk and score updates.
A very scrappy and poor game overall. The Irish pack won the game for Ireland again especially the scrums. Tadhg Furlong was MOTM today. Btw, Furlong is only 6 weeks out from qualifying to play for the U20's again next year!
The darts were off today but I thought it was a systems failure more than anything else. Fogarty have moved to France but Duncan Casey is also in the academy.

Re: JWC: match talk and score updates.
Brenno,
We missed out on the semis due to the ridiculous structure of the competition which should have qualified 2 from each group into quarter finals. Let the bottom 2 from each group play these meaningless "friendly" matches if they want then.......
Are we not getting a bit excited about beating England & France in meaningless matches lads???

There are only 3 groups so how the top 2 could make a QF is beyond me.

Re: JWC: match talk and score updates.
Apologies Mikado
Now that i've actually looked at the structure(ahem) of the comp, i still think that 1 qualifier from each group was extremely harsh and especially unfair given that the Wales, NZ, Fiji, Samoa was always likely to produce 2 qualifiers.........................
Have 2 qualifiers from each group along with the 2 best 3rd place teams.....you then have 7 propor knockout games (4 qf's, 2 sf's and a final) instead of 3 and you could elimimate a lot of these 9th place 7th place etc etc matches

No argument from me with having proper quarter final matches instead of the silly system they have now
