Well done A-Rod clap

There was talk a little while ago that he was going to make this Wimbledon his last, but the comment from his camp was somewhat ambiguous.

Perhaps he's waiting to see what sort of run he has ........

Needed a good run at Eastbourne (esp. after R1 Queens exit) to give himself a boost for the challenge ahead.

Roddick's long-term consistency is often overlooked.

During the course of this millenium I reckon he will have spent more time inside the Top 10 than any other active player - apart from Federer.

Just remember Ivanisevic in 2001. Had barely won a match for a year and then came back to a surface he knew well, at about the same age and point in his career. You never know...

R1 Jamie Baker
R2 Odesnik (do not know how he made it in, perhaps LL, since he lost to Levine in Q2)
R3 Ferrer (who should win Den Bosch)
R4 JMDP (if he beats Ferrer chin)
R5 Murray (if he beats JMDP. He has beaten Murray in 2009)
R6 Nadal (if he can beat Nadal)
R7 Federer/Djokovic

Regardless of what happens, I’ll go into Wimbledon with some wins behind me and some confidence on a surface I’m very comfortable on, so I feel like I got my game back a little bit this week.

Agree with all the comments. I admire Roddick, simply for making the most of his fairly one-dimensional game (in the early days) having the sense to adapt before making a mini-comeback 3 years ago, arguably playing his best ever Tennis

He'd also be great as a summariser

Roddick's best tennis was when he was getting sets off of Fed when Fed was at his prime.

600 wins is good, he must be averaging 50/55 wins per season, played his part in the best ever Wimbledon final, has hot wife, owns a Lexus, stopped Murray making the Wimbledon final, an American Hero..

Tremendous achievement to notch up 600 career wins, with the ATP website listing the other guys who've done it. Reckon Nadal will pass this by many scores of wins, and Djoko and Murray, too, should reach this mark.
Agree that A-Rod was a far better player in the late-Noughties than he was when he was number one. His movement and backhand improved a lot and he was prepared to volley.
Most people like Roddick. He can be very amusing and has always given 100%. Even Fed fans must have felt for Andy R when he was just edged out of that 09 Wimbledon final.

I know I did Fred, I was of the idea that Roddick played better approach tennis than Federer for 4 of the 5 sets. Probably the only time I felt sad when Federer has won a major tournament. Roddick's comment too "But you've won it 5 times" was memorable.

Well, Andy R has chalked up another win today - taking the Eastbourne crown with a straight sets victory over Seppi. That keeps his run going of winning at least one title a year for, how long is it, 12 years? Tremendous consistency.

really pleased for Roddick, he seemed like he had almost thrown in the towel on his career a few weeks ago but when he serves well and moves well he is can still spring a few great results together, Roddick is the Ivanisevic of this era yet he can still claim being a grand slam champion and world number 1 whatever happens

Would love to see Roddick do some sort of punditry like McEnroe as he's one of the most charismatic guy on tour and always creates great sound bites

I am happy Roddick didn't win. The only reason he nearly won was because of his unbeatable serve. He nearly 'Karloviced' his way to a Wimbledon title, 90's style. Federer is the far better player and has lost too many matches he should have won, so I'm happy he got that one. I don't understand why people on 606 often want to see him lose against far less talented guys, like some wished he would lose against Isner at Indian Wells. That would have been horror. I'm not Federer's biggest fan (I think there's something slightly wrong with his mental approach compared to the top two and he seems a bit stubborn) but he deserves far more respect than wishing him to lose against Serve Only and the occasional forehand Wonders.

Btw I wasn't really impressed by Roddick today (kinda like I haven't been in the last two years). I thought Seppi was somehow overawed and played poorly, Roddick was just more consistently. The top players are still going to wallop over the American (with the exception of the occasional Federer brainfart, or was it a tank?). I'm happy though Roddick has got some wins under his belt again, good for him. But his game is still far off from what it used to be.

Roddick's movement against Seppi was poor. More than likely, R3 or R4 at W.

Seppi is capable of better Tennis.
