Re: Fantasy European League™ Season 2 - Round 4
Manchester United 1 - 1 Arsenal
Wilshere ------------------ Villa
Not one for the faint hearted in central midfield as some tough tackling ensued. Both sides have their strengths and weaknesses but overall they balanced out. Utd have the stronger defence and two potential match winners up front although both can be hit or miss. Arsenal have a better balance for me but look a little more vulnerable in defence.
Barcelona 2 - 0 Real Madrid
Ronaldo
Xavi
An intruiging match up with both sides packed with quality. Messi has gone from Madrid and they do look weaker as a result. Aguero is class but not Messi. Barca have retained the star midfield trio and with Ribery and Ronaldo wide, they were a real threat throughout. Madrid have a powerful central midfield but their wide men struggled to see enough of the ball to make the impact they would have liked to have done. A late second from Barca made the scoreline look more comprehensive than it was but the home side edged it.
Inter Milan 0 - 0 Borussia Dortmund
Both sides have solid defences and they were on top today as too many forward players failed to make an impact on the match. Lots of endeavour in midfield but the final ball was lacking and in the end both sides had to settle for the point in a goalless draw.
Manchester City 1 - 1 Chelsea
Alonso ----------------- Gomez
Honours even at the Etihad. City have Messi and he was hs usual self causing problems for the Chelsea defence. City have sacrificed a lot to get him though and at times they looked a little disjointed. Chelsea have the nucleus of a good young side with a heavy Germanic influence. Ozil ran the midfield for them and the predatory Gomez gave them a half time lead. It is tough to keep a side out when they have Messi and although he didn't score himself, he set up the equaliser for Alonso.

Re: Fantasy European League™ Season 2 - Round 4
Bayern Munich 2-1 Tottenham
Sanchez, Silva
di Maria
This was a real hard match to call but Bayern have a formidable side and a fantastically well-balanced one at that. Whilst Spurs packed the midfield and shaded possession, Schweinsteiger and Toulalan were more than able to deal with the extra man as they lied deep. In truth, they were comfortable throughout the match and Toulalan particularly impressed, going some way to eliminating Modric's threat. Going forward, Spurs are always a threat but they have an experienced back four. Yet the visitors took the lead as di Maria sped past Maicon before firing low into the corner. Bayern responded quickly, David Silva again revelling in his advanced role, assisting Sanchez for the equaliser. Silva then scored the winner shortly after.
=====
Man Utd 2-3 Arsenal
Benzema, Ibrahimovic
Mata, Pedro, Villa
Arsenal's Spanish contingent did not let them down today as they orchestrated a three-goal comeback against a shocked United side. The hosts have a strong side but their midfield today was dominated by Arsenal's for large periods of the game. The solid foundations set by Parker and Mascherano give the front four full license to attack, and they did just that for the entirety of the game. United raced into a two-goal lead though, capitalising twice on sloppy defending from Adriano at the back. Mata and Pedro combined for Arsenal to halve the deficit, before Pedro scored himself, followed by a last-gasp Villa winner.
=====
Inter Milan 1-0 Borussia Dortmund
Sneijder
Dortmund almost sneaked their first point of the season today as a result of heroic defending from Mats Hummels, but they couldn't stop a late Sneijder pile-driver to give Inter a much-needed victory. Footballcrazy must have been confident going into this game and his side are indeed better on paper. Yet Dortmund's defence really frustrated the hosts, and soon it was the German side that was coming forward with new-found vigour, Kagawa coming close on numerous occasions. It wasn't to be for Dortmund, though, as Sneijder's exquisite free-kick gave Inter all three points. Still work to do for the Germans.
=====
Man City 0-0 Chelsea
Not even Messi could give City a vital winner today as the hosts looked very disorganised and even disjointed in this game against a solid Chelsea side. The visitors have a nice blend of resolute defence and promising attack throughout their side, but City's unwavering defence gave them few chances. However, going forward City promised much after Messi's arrival, but the side did not look at its fluent best. Messi was the fulcrum of all of the hosts' attacks, but his team-mates looked frustrated and disillusioned.

Re: Fantasy European League™ Season 2 - Round 4
Tottenham 2 - 1 Bayern Munich
Higuain ------------- Van Persie
Pepe
Pepe stole the show after a thumping header from the corner in the last 15mins. Earlier Higuain scored when Schweinstiger set him free from a brilliant counter move. Van Persie equalised from a tap-in after Modric ghost past a few players and squared it to their main striker.
------
Barcelona 2 - 1 Real Madrid
Ribery --------------- Marcelo
Iniesta
Madrid were quite unlucky with decisions going for Barca throughout the game espcially Aguero went through and was clearly clipped Cech but the linesman said 'no'. Ribery and Iniesta with the Barca goals and Marcelo pulled one back after several 1-2s with team mates and he finished really cooly. Madrid attacked once more but Barca sustained their pressure.
---------
Inter Milan 1 - 1 Borussia Dortmund
Sneijder ------------ Reus
This game had many chances but poor finishing from both sides resulted in a score draw. Sneijder with a long ranger and Reus equalising with a neat finish. However, Kagawa could have got all three points as he was set clear but his shot flew over the bar.
----------
Man City 2 - 1 Chelsea
Messi --------- Gomez
Khedera
City scraped through thanks to Khedera's beautiful volley late in the first half. It was a fast paced game with both teams looking for the win and Gomez scored with a glancing header. Messi equalised almost immediately and as half time was approaching the momentum went with City after Khedera took the lead. 2nd half was more relaxed and City didnt want to needlessly over commit players and hung on for the win

Re: Fantasy European League™ Season 2 - Round 4
Bayern 1-1 Spurs
Silva; Modric
Took me a while to think about this game. Don't think Spurs are playing the best formation for them, Van der Vaart is too deep so a 4-2-3-1 might be more suited to their players. Aside from that, the teams are really even and I can't see much between them. Aside from Muller for Bayern, there's no one on the bench for either team that can come on and make an impact.
Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal
;Mata
We've seen it so much recently; 4-4-2 is outdated and I think that shows here. On saying that, I think Man Utd have the better team and if he'd substituted Ibihimovic/Benzema for another midfielder I think he'd have won because a) Benzema and Ibi probably wouldn't work together in a 4-4-2 and b) Man Utd look better on paper. Can't say much about Arsenal; perhaps get a better LB.
Barca 1-1 Real
Iniesta; Neymar
Ah, the Clasico. I'm going to be a wimp and go for a draw. Real better at the back, Barca just shade it in the middle, probably the same in terms of quality up front. I've not seen enough of 4-2-3-1 v 4-3-3 to determine whether packing the midfield or going all out in an attacking formation works. I have a hunch it would be the 4-2-3-1 but as I've said, I don't know.
Inter 3-0 Dortmund
Lucio, Sneijder, Young
Has Bull listened to anything anyone has said about his team? I don't think so so frankly, he'll get no advice from me. Plus he's not even added Lewandowski to the team. Loving the Inter team though, I think that would definitely work IRL. Maybe questions about CB as Lucio's not the player he was (although I'd upgrade Juan before him) so if fc can upgrade there he'll have a really solid, hard to beat team.

Re: Fantasy European League™ Season 2 - Round 4
Bayern 1 - Spurs 1
Robben - VDV
A really tight game that neither side could get on top in. A Robben goal early on looked like it was going to get the win for Bayern as they shut up shop with Vermaelen sticking to RVP like glue. However a late freekick from VDV secured a point for Spurs and neither side could grumble too much.
Man U 3 - Arsenal 2
Ibra x3 - Pedro, Mata
I think this game would be quite a goal fest with neither sides DCM's being able to contain the others attacking threat. The 4-4-2 from Nando took Arsenal by shock early on with Koscielny being outdone by Ibra twice as United stormed infront. Arsenal then began to settle and got it back to 2-2 following great link up between the Spanish contingent. However late on Ibra scored a screamer to take all the points for United.
Barce 1 - Real Madrid 2
Ronaldo - Aguero x2
A Classico that on paper looks tight turned into the Aguero show as he totally destroyed the aging cb partnership of Terry and Puyol. His two moments of brilliance were matched by one from Ronaldo but Barce never recovered and didn't see the ball enough with Yaya, Pirlo and Fab controlling the center of the pitch throughout.
Inter 4 - Dortmund 1
Drog, Sneijder, Ramires, Ivanovic - Reus
A very one sided game in which Inter totally destroyed Dortmund. The midfield of Inter was given far far too much space throughout with Ramires having a field day. In fact Ramires, Sneijder and Cambiasso ran the show with Kehl and Gundogan having no answer to the attacking threat. When Dortmund got the ball they look threatening and Reus showed this as he tucked one away to get the score to 3-1 but a late corner picked out Ivanovic who thumped one home. It could have been even more for Inter and in many ways it probably should have been.

Pull has punished himself as well.
Of course, should late predos count at all? They turned a win into a draw for me. :grr:

Get your predo's in on time and you have no worries Brahma!
I'd always take all predo's until I calculate results as I'd rather have as many as poss, especially with only 10 managers.
