Please read regards banned members
Over the last few weeks, there has been a growing number of posters who are publicly posting comments about new members who have joined the site, accusing them of being previously banned members.
This has to stop with immediate effect for a number of reasons.
1. The admin and mod teams always keep an eye on new members to make sure that they are following rules. This includes background work to check for returning members.
2. Making accusations towards new members can be off putting for genuine ones to post for the first time or return. The moderation team has all the information needed to spot returnees, the general membership do not.
3. If someone is indeed a banned member, by highlighting it on thread will make them start to change their posting habits to throw us off the scent. In every instance where you suspect someone might have slipped through, notify your local moderator via a PM.
4. Finally, not all the names bandied about have been banned. Some members have left on their own volition and have returned, with our full knowledge under a pseudonym for a fresh start. By accusing them of being banned just leads to a mob mentality.
Anyone who continues to accuse in public may themselves face repercussions - follow the protocol and tell your moderator should you have issues. Do not make a scene on thread!
Thank you for reading.

I fondly remember that name, you gave me lots of gas on the old 606 about the two wins and one gift Honiss provided your team, at home, away from SA, at your safe haven, not at altitude.leinsterbaby wrote:Thanks Bil, GunsGerms here I come.

Its always a "shock" to a South African when they lose v Ireland. Just like the under 20s in SA and 3 of the last 4 international matches. When will you SAers learn.

I have found that posters on 606 v2 (at least on the cricket section that I frequent) tend to be incredibly welcoming to new members - something that I haven't seen on other forums. Good that the mods are trying to ensure that that isn't spoiled

I find that posters on the Rugby section are generally very welcoming to new posters - it's just when you get the same tired wums with different accounts trying to destroy threads and bring down the standard of the forum - that's when people post out asking them to stop (and calling them their previous account name) - it would help if the mods gave them a 3 strikes and your out rule, instead of seamingly turning a blind eye.

The thing is we don't, we don't learn from losing, it is unacceptable.

Priest mate we aren't turning a blind eye, far from it, but we've processes we've got to follow before we can ban people. Like Adam asks, if you've got suspicions about duplicate accounts it's best to PM us and not raise it on the actual threads, it makes our jobs a whole lot easier!

Re: Please read regards banned members
Yes but if someone is wumming then he/she is guilty... even if you don't know for sure that person is a previous poster under an alias, you know that they are wumming and therefore the same sanctions should apply

Re: Please read regards banned members
It just gets annoying dreamer - especially when AWOP is across the rugby boards like a rash instigating petty (usually English/Welsh) arguments and squabbles resulting in promising threads getting banned.
I do report posts to the admin team, but it seems that it's only when another posters have responded to the Wum and insults are flying around left right and centre that something happens - by which time it's too late.
I know it's a tough job but it is frustrating that whether AWOP is GG or not he's bringing down the standard of the rugby boards

"There is no try"
I'm not quoting Yoda's famous line from Empire Strikes Back.
Oh no I'm giving a prediction about Scotlands chances in this seasons 6 Nations.

Priest - oh aye I understand fully how annoying it is, but we've got set rules and criteria to follow to dish out bans that are as fair as can be. Sometimes that juts means the banning process can take longer then other posters feel is necessary is all!

The only forum I take issue with is the golf one. There are some long serving posters that insist on making derogatory remarks towards Irish people and it doesn't get moderated. Pity.

That'll be me then, who cares?, it's only a laugh. If you can't take opinions and banter then you shouldn't be posting. There's no law against it, it isn't abusive and you could hardly even call it offensive.
Stop being so sensitive.

If the golf forum was moderated properly it would be a better forum in my opinion. Maybe there should be a insults forum where people can engage in "Paddy bashing" to their hearts content and those that want to talk golf can do so on the golf forum.
Is there any reason why the standard of moderation is much higher on the rugby forum for example?

Moderation on the Golf Board is excellent, and thanks to our Golf Moderators for that.
Sadly some over-moderation in the past has driven valued posters away, wish they'd return.
But you're very welcome Guns, will look forward to your participation.

There are different moderators for different boards. Obviously some cross-over, but for the most part, each part of the board has its own team of moderators. We're only human and everybody has different ways to moderate. We try our best to keep things consistent.

Thomond,
I can assure you that racism and sexism in the US only reflects the population at large, especially those of a Republican Party persuasion. Not confined to golf or golfers, or sport for that matter, in any way.
